Former Oklahoma point guard Trae Young has private workouts with the Knicks and Orlando Magic this week, a league source told ZAGSBLOG.

Young is in New York Monday and Tuesday to meet and workout with the Knicks, and will then fly to Orlando Tuesday night, the source said.

“On the way to NYC!” Young posted on his Instagram.

In April, I reported on SNY.tv that Young was expected to work out for the Knicks.

The Knicks own the No. 9 pick in the June 21 NBA Draft at Barclays Center, while ESPN.com currently projects Young to go No. 6 to Orlando.

Young and Orlando wing Terrence Ross traded messages on Instagram in which Ross said he planned to attend Young’s workout with the team.

“I’ll be there for that,” Ross wrote.

“See ya there brodie,” Young responded.

The Knicks and Magic are two of several teams that have passed through the University of Oklahoma to interview staff and faculty regarding Young, Oklahoma assistant Carlin Hartman told SNY.tv.

Phoenix (No. 1), Sacramento (No. 2), Atlanta (No. 3), Memphis (No. 4) and Philadelphia (No. 10) have also passed through Oklahoma, while Cleveland has also been in touch.

A league source told SNY.tv the Knicks are focused on taking a wing — potentially Villanova’s Mikal Bridges  or Missouri’s Michael Porter Jr. —  or Duke forward Wendell Carter Jr. with their pick, but they are doing their due diligence on Young, who had his Pro Day last Wednesday.

“Just being around the kid for a year, he’s a basketball savant,” Hartmann told SNY.tv. “He’s got an NBA game, he’s got an NBA mindset, he’s always dreamt of being at that level an now he’s going to get the chance to do it. When he signed with us, we knew he wasn’t going to be here all four years We didn’t know if it was going to translate that quickly in one particular year, but he earned the right to be in the position he’s in right now and we’re all happy for him and proud of him and can’t wait to see where he goes.”

As for the Knicks, they also have workouts on Wednesday scheduled with Terry Larrier (UConn) and Tyler Davis (Texas A&M), per league sources.  Both players also work out for the Nets on Tuesday.
