Aaron Gordon Reminds Blake Griffin of Himself ‘A Little Bit’

Aaron Gordon has been compared to Blake Griffin ever since he burst onto the national scene a few years ago.

They look somewhat alike.

They dunk in similar fashion.

And they’re both incredible athletes.

So, does Griffin himself see the comparison?

“A little bit,” Griffin told SNY.tv after going for 32 points and 7 boards Friday night as the Los Angeles Clippers beat the Knicks, 109-95, at Madison Square Garden.

“He’s very athletic, he’s got a pretty good motor.”

The 6-8 Gordon has been asked about the comparison in the past and had this to say.

“I think, I can play point guard and he can’t,” Gordon told the Sporting News last year.

“He’s an incredible player; he’s the No. 1 pick. I can’t be too mad if people are comparing me to a No. 1 pick. But I can play point guard.”

Arizona coach Sean Miller, for one, doesn’t think the comparison is fair.

“I think it’s unfair to put that on Aaron,” Miller told ESPN.com. “I don’t know if he’s as much of a post player as Blake Griffin is. Aaron might not even be as big physically as Blake Griffin. … But he does some other things that are much different. He’s much more fluid away from the basket entering his freshman year, I think if you would make that comparison at equal time, than Blake Griffin [was]. The one thing they share is athleticism in and around the basket or in transition.”

Gordon is part of a group of Fab Frosh that are all projected to go in the Top 10 of the draft that also includes Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, Julius Randle and Joel Embiid.

Asked about the hype they’re all getting, Griffin told SNY.tv, “It’s crazy, it’s crazy. I think it’s well-deserved. I think they’re very good.”
