Anderson Likes Seton Hall, St. John's

NEW YORK — Kyle Anderson is moving slowly but surely toward a college decision, possibly at the beginning of the next school year in the fall.

At this point, the 6-foot-8 Anderson says both Seton Hall and St. John’s are in good shape for his services.

As for Seton Hall, he said, “They just keep the phone calls short. They come to see me whenever they can. They just do a good job of it.”

Anderson, the No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2012 according to Rivals, knows Seton Hall freshman wing Fuquan Edwin from their time at Paterson Catholic.

“I played with him in the past,” he said.

On St. John’s, he said, “St. John’s does a good job, too.”

He also knows 2012 St. John’s commit Jevon Thomas through AAU ball.

A Fairview, N.J. native who helped St. Anthony win a mythical national championship, Anderson likes the idea of remaining close to home.

“That’s something that might have an edge,” he said. “Them being the two local schools.”

Anderson is also considering UCLA, Georgetown, Xavier, Arizona and Florida.

“It’s a lot to think about right now,” he said of the college process.

Anderson made the comments at the iS8/Nike Spring Classic, where he watched St. Anthony teammate Myles Mack score a game-high 26 points to lead the Playaz over the Panthers, 75-73, in an exciting quarterfinal.

Anderson and the younger Playaz were eliminated Saturday.

Without Mack at St. Anthony next season, Anderson’s role figures to change.

“I’ve just got to score more,” he said.

I wonder if Detroit dumped Siva yet.

Whatever happened to S Machado. That kid was a semi decent pass first guard that could definitely help as 3rd stringer, given that the one we have now is persona non grata for "the coach".

Best deal for the knicks, pending Shumps MCL is he could go to OKC for a 1st round pick

Even the Bobcats get better:

Can confirm MIL has agreed to send Neal/Ridnour to CHA, for Sessions/Adrien. Deal done in principle, awaiting NBA approval, etc.

I understand why the Shump trades have died down but why the hell has Tyson's name never graced even one rumor. Is this guy Anthony Davis to the point he is untouchable? Surely a team could use Tyson for some sort of asset. This baffles me.

Melo is the player of the week every week. He earns his salary. 2nd is Pablo, and recently Hardaway is 3. Rest of them can go fishing

Seriously how perfect does the Shump injury last night fit into the whole narrative of the season? It was like the icing on top of the cake before the deadline. Shump has been having a terrible season but teams still were reaching out for him and he sprains his MCL on the same knee literally hours before the deadline.

Knicks gonna Knick

Instead of a 100th Carmelo Anthony post, how about a trade deadline open thread?

@Seth Nadler  You can't possibly think that people with true inside access would go into a blog and spread news about management activities.

It's just to shake things up.

IF it happens, IF, it happens, Hamilton will be our biggest acquisition. Awesome.

In his early 30's, bad choice. Good backup but we have enough.

@onewhoknix  Maybe its a blessing in disguise.  Sure, teams are still reaching out about him but no doubt his stock is the lowest its ever been.  Maybe its better we hold on to him and then when we get a real coach this off season, he can bring back Shump's mojo.  And he either turns into the player we've seen glimpses of or his value rises and we can get more for him in a trade next year.

I'm bummed we haven't made any moves but at the same time I was super worried we'd give up Shump, Hardaway and a first rounder for Teague or something stupid like that.  Shump getting hurt might have saved us from ourselves.  A slight upgrade might get us into the playoffs but its not gonna turn us into championship teams.  Felton and to a lesser extent JR are at their worst right now as far as being tradable.  Chandler, STAT and Bargnani are all gonna be easier to move starting this off season.

My hope is that we sneak into the playoffs and play a competitive series against Indiana or Miami.  Season ends, Melo stays.  Woodson's contract ends and he "resigns" and is replaced by Jeff Van Gundy.  And then smart moves are made to upgrade the roster, specifically the PG position.  Then we go into next season and make some mid season moves with STAT and Bargnani, possibly Chandler.  The stock of all of our players rise because we are actually winning some games and have a better coach.  Then we add a super star at next year's trade deadline to pair with Melo.  Then its on till the break of dawn!
