Aquille Carr to Seton Hall

The good news just keeps on coming for Seton Hall.

The Pirates on Friday landed a verbal commitment from 5-foot-6, 150-pound 2013  point guard Aquille Carr of Baltimore Patterson.

“Thanks to everybody that push me to make it to were im at #setonhall,” he tweeted.

Seton Hall senior point guard Jordan Theodore Tweeted to Carr, “S/o to the new member of the Pirates @CantGuard3. Welcome aboard boy!”

Reached by phone, Patterson coach Harry Martin said he was unaware of any decision but that Carr is set to hold a press conference Thursday morning to announce.

Martin recently told SNY.tv Seton Hall, Baylor, Xavier and Loyola Marymount were working the hardest on the explosive but diminutive Carr.

Seton Hall assistant Chris Pompey appears to have closed the deal.

“I think depending on what program he gets into and the type of offense that he gets into I think he’ll do exceptionally well, especially if it’s a team that spreads things out and allows him to use his abilities in the open court,” Martin told SNY.tv.

Carr was named the Baltimore Metro Player of the Year in 2010 after averaging 31.7 points a game. This year, he’s averaging 21.

He will compete against St. Benedict’s Prep Jan. 14 in the Dan Finn Classic in Jersey City where Seton Hall fans can see their newest commit.

Carr’s decision means that Seton Hall is no longer in the mix for 2013 floor general Jaren Sina of Gill St. Bernard’s.

“They are now off the list,” Sina told The Recruit Scoop. “I spoke with my dad and he said that they are longer a part of the schools I’m considering.”

Virginia, Northwestern, Rutgers, St. John’s, Villanova, Kansas, Michigan and West Virginia are among those involved with Sina.

After Tuesday’s upset of No. 8 UConn, the Pirates are 13-2 entering Saturday’s game at Providence.
