The 6-foot-4 shooting guard from Rockwall (TX) is the No. 36 ranked player in the Class of 2015 by 247 Sports, and recently decommitted from Oklahoma State.
He will trip to Oklahoma Saturday for the Texas game.
“Coach [Lon] Kruger is a really good coach,” Wes Grandstaff, the director of Team Texas and Austin’s father, told SNY.tv Thursday morning.
“He lets the guards have a lot of freedom just to play. They’re having a great season. And they’ve just shown a lot of attention. Coach Kruger has already been here and they’ve sent him tons of mail. They’ve really just been in our ear.”
Grandstaff will then trip to Gainesville March 8 to see the Kentucky-Florida game and is expecting to receive an offer on that trip.
“We’re going to get there on Friday and stay until Sunday,” Wes said. “They said they’re going to offer. They want us to come on campus and hang out with us, but we wouldn’t be going all the way down there if it wasn’t true interest.”
Florida is currently No. 1 in the land and Wes likes how they develop their guards.
“Their guards have a lot of freedom,” he said. “They’ve had a lot of guards come out of there. They help guys get to the next level. It’s a successful program. [Billy Donovan] is a Hall of Fame coach. And it’s Florida.”
