Udoka Azubuike took an official visit to N.C. State this past weekend and was joined by Dennis Smith Jr., who has already committed to the Wolfpack for 2016, and Rawle Alkins, who remains undecided.
“It was nice, it was great,” the 6-foot-10 Azubuike out of Jacksonville (FL) Potter’s House Christian said by phone.
The trio hung out together on Saturday, took this picture in the locker room and talked about possibly teaming up in college.
“Yeah, pretty much we were just talking about it,” he said. “But I don’t know yet, we’re gonna see.”
N.C. State would love to land some combination of this trio along with 6-10 Bam Adebayo, who was supposed to make the trip but did not end up going.
Head coach Mark Gottfried told Azubuike he could follow in the footsteps of big men like current junior Beejay Anya.
“He just told me that once I come over there that they’re going to throw the ball to me, that they’re going to try to use the big,” Azubuike said. “He was just showing me different plays and telling me what my role is when I come to the team.”
Azubuike also enjoyed his visit to Kansas the weekend before.
“It was good,” he said. “It’s known for its big men and stuff. They’re known for using their bigs.”
Azubuike currently has no other visits planned and no timetable on a decision.
“For now I don’t think so,” he said.
