NEW YORK — After picking up a scholarship offer from Kentucky late last month, Edrice “Bam” Adebayo says he hopes to visit the school at some point.

“I think I probably will,” Adebayo told SNY.tv last week at the Big Strick Classic, where he went for 24 points and also won the Dunk Contest.

Kentucky coach John Calipari watched Adebayo take on Rawle Alkins at the adidas Uprising All-American Camp on Long Island in mid-July and then offered him later that month.

“I guess it means I’m a good player,” the 6-10 Adebayo told SNY.tv that night.

Adebayo seems impressed with what Kentucky has to offer.

“Their fan base is incredible,” he said. “I like the way they play, fast, they go through their bigs. They just play hard basketball.”

Adebayo has been linked to a potential package involving 2016 point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who also holds a Kentucky offer but has been sidelined with an ACL injury.

Still, Adebayo says there’s no guarantee the two will end up at the same school.

“We might,” he said. “It’s nothing definite.”

He added: He’s a good guard. He passes the ball well. He shoot it, he can dribble and he takes a lot of pressure off of me.”

Still, Adebayo says he’ll make the decision that’s right for him.

“I’m going to do what’s best for me,” he said.

Asked if a package deal was hard, he said, “I don’t think it’s hard. It just depend on both of y’all’s situation. If he’s going to get playing time and then you behind two other starters, it’s kind of hard.”

Adebayo has been compared to Shawn Kemp, Dwight Howard and Amar’e Stoudemire, but doesn’t believe he looks like Howard despite the comparisons.

He will be back in New York next week for the Under Armour Elite 24 Game set for Aug. 22 in Brooklyn.
