Bracket Update: Lunardi Gives Villanova a No. 1 Seed; Big East Down to 6 Teams
In Joe Lunardi’s latest mock NCAA Tournament bracket on ESPN.com, Villanova has risen to a No. 1 seed and six Big East teams are dancing, as opposed to the eight from a week ago.
Lunardi’s No. 1s are Kentucky, Virginia, Duke and Villanova, with Wisconsin dropping to a 2 seed following its loss Sunday at Rutgers.
Gonzaga, Arizona and Kansas are the other 2 seeds.
The ACC and Big 12 both have seven teams in the bracket, while the Big Ten and Big East have six apiece.
After putting eight Big East teams, including DePaul, into the bracket, Lunardi now has Villanova, Seton Hall, Butler, Xavier, Georgetown and Providence in.
St. John’s is among the First four out, along with Washington, Georgia and BYU.
Syracuse, which just lost freshman big man Chris McCullough to an ACL tear, and defending champion UConn are both in the bracket after missing out last week.
Hofstra, off to a 13-4 start, would again be in the bracket.
