COLUMBIA, S.C.- Brandone Francis has high hopes for his first year in college.
“I feel like we have a shot to do something special,” Francis told SNY.tv. “I just wanna get out there with my new teammates next year, Chris Chiozza and Devin Robinson, and employ what we can do for the team.”
When asked if he wanted Chris Walker — projected as a lottery pick by some mock drafts — to come back for another year, he was emphatic with his answer.
“Of course, no brainer,” Francis said. “I wanna play next to him, I think we would be tough with him down low, and I think that he will be key for us next year. I think he should come back too. I think he should live that college experience next year because he got there a little too late this year, and then after that, he should put his name in the draft. Everyone knows he’s a lottery pick.”
Francis, the No. 27 player in the country per ESPN, is the third player in the class of 2014 to sign with Billy Donovan and the Florida Gators, alongside Chiozza and Robinson. He feels that with the pieces in place for next year, Florida has a shot to make a big run and win it all.
“Oh yeah, definitely have a shot,” Francis said. “That’s the one goal, first of all. We just have to get some time to get together down there and get better, but we definitely have a chance to do something special.”
