WASHINGTON, D.C. — Canadian big man Chris Egi is on the move.

The 6-foot-8, 215-pound center from CIA Bounce is transferring to Montverde (FL) Academy from Toronto (Ontario) St. Andrew’s for this upcoming season.

Egi is also considering reclassifying to 2014 from 2015.

“Next year I’m going to be attending Montverde Academy in Florida,” Egi told SNY.tv at the Nike Global Challenge before he was named International co-MVP along with fellow Canadian Montaque Gill-Caesar.

Coached by Kevin Boyle, Montverde is the reigning ESPN NHSI champion. At the school, Egi will join Ohio State-bound guard D’Angelo Russell, who is here playing on the USA South team, and 2015 Australian sensation Ben Simmons.

“It’s high-level competition every day in practice compared to what I was seeing in Canada,” Egi said. “You have someone like Ben and D’Angelo, just having great teammates like that. And you can play a real high-level competitive schedule.”

As for reclassifying, he could go the way of fellow Canadian Andrew Wiggins.

“It’s definitely an option if I get the offers I’m looking for, I might look at something like that,” he said.

As far as colleges, Egi, who maintains a 95 average, says Washington, Harvard and Stanford are working the hardest at the moment.

“Those are the ones recruiting me the hardest,” Egi said.

Egi picked up offers from Florida and Cal during the Nike Global Challenge, and Illinois, Marquette and Virginia are also recruiting him.

“I don’t really have any favorites at the moment,” he said. “I’m pretty wide open. I haven’t really focused much on my recruiting. I’m just focused on playing right now.”

Wherever he lands, Egi figures to make an impact.

“I just want to be the hardest working guy in the gym everywhere go,” Egi said. “I’ll be a little bit versatile for a big man with my quickness and work really hard on defense and just wreak havoc on the defensive end.”
