Tyler Cavanaugh, a 6-foot-8, 225-pound power forward from Jamesville-DeWitt High School, has verbally pledged to Wake Forest.

“When I stepped on campus I knew that it was the place for me,” he said by text. “When I met the guys it solidified my decision and I fell in love with the place. The size is nice and everyone is there to support you.”

Cavanaugh also had offers from Notre Dame, Syracuse,  St. Bonaventure, St. Joe’s, George Washington, Fordham, La Salle and UMass and others.

“I will bring my versatility to Coach [Jeff] Bzdelik’s system and fit in where I can,” he said. “I will bring an inside/outside game with toughness and the desire to win.”
