  • Chase Jeter Talks Louisville, Duke Offers

    Share Zagsblog Share Zagsblog
Chase Jeter is racking up scholarship offers from the most prestigious programs in the nation, with Louisville and Duke the two latest elite programs to offer the 6-foot-10 2015 power forward from Las Vegas Bishop Gorman.

Louisville offered this past Saturday, while Duke offered the Saturday before that. North Carolina and Gonzaga also recently offered Jeter.

“I’ve had a few,” he told SNY.tv by phone. “It’s real fun. I’m having fun with it and taking a good chance to weigh out my options and have fun with it.”

With Louisville, assistant coach Wyking Jones offered Jeter after he came out to watch him practice.

“He said he didn’t want to put it off any longer, so he decided to offer me a scholarship then and there,” Jeter said. “And he said Coach [Rick] Pitino would come to a few of my games this year and we’d probably get a good chance to meet and sit down and have a talk.”

Jeter is well aware of Louisville’s pedigree, coming off a national championship.

“Oh, man, when I think of Louisville the first thing that comes to mind is how hard they play,” Jeter said. “All of them look like they’re a part of something special and they work hard and they give 100 percent effort on the court. That’s what comes to mind when I think of Louisville.”

As for Duke, Coach K offered Jeter a week ago.

“Oh, I was really excited,” he said. “He offered me last Saturday so I was really excited.”

As far as how Jeter might fit in, Jeter said, “Coach K said he sees me as a basketball player so I’ll be able to extend the defense, being quicker than some of the other big guys and just basically he told me the main reason he called me was to offer a scholarship.”

With North Carolina, he said coach Roy Williams told him he was going to recruit the “daggon dickens out of me.”

“He offered me so that was also exciting,” he said.

Jeter is also being recruited by UCLA, Arizona, UNLV, Kansas, Cal, Gonzaga, USC, Oregon and Michigan.

“I’ve got a lot of options right now,” Jeter said.
He plans to visit Oregon unofficially in December when he plays out there in a high school event, and may also visit Arizona in January.

He and teammate Stephen Zimmerman are both being recruited at the highest levels, but Jeter doubts they’ll play together in college.

“I think in college me and Stephen will end up going our separate ways,” he said. “I love playing with him, though. He’s a great teammate. I think we complement each other, we do a good job with the high/low.”

For now their goals include making a statement on the national level at Bishop Gorman.

“We’re looking to do some damage on the national scale,” Jeter said. “Me and my teammates are going to put some work in to do some damage with the  state title but we’re trying to do some damage on the national level.”
