Henderson (NV) Findlay Prep point guard Derryck Thornton will meet Monday evening at 6:30 p.m. with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, Tank Thornton confirmed to SNY.tv.

Evan Daniels of Scout first reported the meeting.

With Tyus Jones having declared for the NBA Draft, Duke needs a point guard for next season and is attempting to get Thornton to reclass.

Tank Thornton, the player’s father, recently told SNY.tv his son is “50-50” on reclassing. Louisville, which already has two point guards, is also attempting to recruit Thornton for 2015-16.

Louisville coach Rick Pitino met recently with the Thorntons.

“They’re both really appealing, these are two of the best coaches in college,” Tank said. “For my son to go in there and learn from those two guys” would be great.

Meantime, incoming Duke guard Luke Kennard told SNY.tv last week that he could play the point and had been told by the Duke staff to continue to work on his ball-handling.
