Duke Coach Mike Krzyzewski will return to coach Team USA in the 2016 Olympics, according to SI.com.
Coach K led the United States to gold medals at the 2008 Olympics in Beijing and the 2012 Olympics in London, but initially said he would not coach again.
Now he has reportedly changed his mind.
“I think it’s very close to being resolved,” USA Basketball Chairman Jerry Colangelo told SI.com. “That’s all I can say for sure.”
Coach K, 66, has compiled a record of 62-1 with USA Basketball. He will next coach in the 2014 FIBA World Championship in Madrid and then the 2016 Olympics in Rio de Janeiro.
Lakers coach Mike D’Antoni, Syracuse coach Jim Boeheim and former Portland coach Nate McMillan were on the staff in 2012.
Boeheim said he will coach if Coach K does.
“I’ve always been amenable to that,” Boeheim told the Syracuse Post-Standard. “It’s his decision. I enjoy doing what I’ve done for that program. If he decided to come back then I certainly would come back.”
D’Antoni is not expected back, according to the New York Post.
Team USA will convene for training camp in late July in Las Vegas.
