DeAndre Bembry’s Hoops Blog

DeAndre Bembry, one of the top small forwards in the Class of 2013 out of Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick, will be contributing periodically to ZAGSBLOG during his senior season. Here’s his second entry:

Hey, what’s up world?

Sorry I couldn’t get to you guys sooner, but I was a little busy. This past summer was my last time playing AAU basketball. It was a good one for myself and Sports U.

It was a fun summer with the coaching staff and most of all being able to play with talent from all over New Jersey.

This summer I grabbed a bunch of offers from Temple, St. Joe’s, Miami, URI,  Providence, Rutgers, USC, Boston College and a few others. Saying that, you can see I had a pretty good summer.

As far as getting closer to the school I want to commit to, I have already had an official visit to Temple U. My next visit will be St. Joe’s very soon (Thursday).

After St. Joe’s I may take another official visit, but for now Temple and St. Joe’s are definitely on my final top three.

I will be committing to a school before my high school season starts.

I hope he doesn't mess up Folk Hero. That dude is on cruise control right now....

A special teams coach who also helps out with the DL? I figure Rex and this guy meeting was like that scene in Step Brothers...

Rex: "DID WE JUST BECOME BEST FRIENDS!?"

McGaughey: "YUP!"

Well the Jets will get some inside information on several highly regarded Draft prospects from McGaughey!

Lamin Barrow ILB, Odell Beckham Jr WR, Jarvis Landry WR, Craig Loston S, Zach Mettenberger QB, Jeremy Hill RB, Alfred Bleu RB, Trai Turner OG are all prospects the Jets might be interested in so every little bit of information can help!

Hopefully Idzik won't let Folk go anywhere, and we score this guy a kickoff return star in the draft!!

I'd like to see this guy succeed!!

@a57se He likely also has some insights into all of the SEC draft prospects...not a bad conference to have intelligence on.

@a57se

Odell Beckmen 5' 10" tall weight 210lbs..A stud.

Trai Turner one of the top guards in the league 2nd round pic I guessing.

@a57se  looks like both beckham and landry both have good hands

Yeah, great point. I was watching some film on Beckham today, really liked what I saw. Seemed excel in all phases of the game.

@harold  Probably decided a while ago but waited to announce it until college signing day was over.  Today a pretty big day in college football where top prospect high schoolers commit to colleges.

Beckham is about 190lbs wet.  If he is 205 he did a lot of bulking up.

@rstysanchz @a57se

I think he is one of the top WR's in the draft and hope we can get him at 18 because there is no way he is around after the first round unless he bombs the combine.

@gbrownn

I really like the way Beckham attacks the ball now...he didn't do that as much in 2012. Cam Cameron and his crew did some good coaching there.

I agree thats one of the things I like about him too. He just seems really tough and gritty. Cant have too many of those guys on the team
