NEW YORK — Adonis Delarosa knows he will announce his college choice April 18, but he says he remains wide open a little more than a month out from his announcement.
“At this point I’m really open to everyone…I’m still up in the air with all these. It’s a very hard decision and I’m just waiting to make the right one,” Delarosa told SNY.tv after going for 10 points and 15 rebounds as Christ the King beat Bishop Loughlin, 72-61, to win the New York Catholic Class AA title.
In addition to South Carolina, St. John’s, Fordham, Rutgers and Hofstra, Delarosa said Miami offered him Saturday and that he’s also considering Georgetown, Florida State, Purdue and Wichita State, among others.
St. John’s went two deep for this game, with head coach Steve Lavin and assistant Tony Chiles in the stands. Cincinnati head coach Mick Cronin and assistant Darren Savino were on hand for Rawle Alkins, Delarosa’s sophomore teammate who had a brilliant game with 24 points, 4 rebounds and 4 blocks.
“I’ll think I’ll be starting to take visits after the state championship and stuff like that,” Delarosa said, referring to the New York State Federation tournament which begins March 21.
He has no visits planned yet.
“At this point no but in the next few weeks, I’ll be planning it,” he said.
St. John’s will need bigs after Orlando Sanchez and God’sgift Achiuwa graduate, but Delarosa isn’t necessarily in the mood to stay home.
“To tell you the truth, I didn’t even think about staying in New York,” he said. “I just go with anybody. I just want to go where I’m going to be successful so if that means I have to go out to Oklahoma or something, I would go.”
