BROOKVILLE, N.Y. — Duke went three deep Wednesday night with head coach Mike Krzyzewski and assistants Jeff Capel and Jon Scheyer for 6-foot-4 2016 point guard Frank Jackson.
“Yeah for sure, I notice them at all my games and I just appreciate that he [ Coach K] is here,” Jackson, out of American Fork (UT) Lone Peak, said here at the adidas Uprising All-American Camp.
Duke has been rolling three or four deep over the past week at the Peach Jam for several top targets, including Jayson Tatum, who committed to the Blue Devils on Sunday, along with targets like Harry Giles, Wendell Carter Jr., Michael Porter Jr. and Marvin Bagley III.
“[It shows] that they really care, that they want me to be in their program and they want me to be involved with them so it says a lot” Jackson said.
Duke has produced its share of high-level point guards, most recently Tyus Jones and Quinn Cook, and that isn’t lost on Jackson.
“Oh yeah, you go to Duke you’re going to be successful, so definitely appealing,” he said.
Duke is also recruiting fellow 2016 point guard Dennis Smith Jr., who is not at the camp because of an ankle injury, but Jackson didn’t want to compare the two players.
“He’s a great player and we do some similar things,” Jackson said. “I think very highly of him and what he does and I really enjoy his game.”
The No. 4 point guard in the Class of 2016 according to 247Sports.com, Jackson said Duke, Stanford, Utah and Arizona were “probably coming at him the hardest.”
He’s also considering BYU and UCLA, among others.
“Whatever the right decision is, I’m going to make that,” he said.
Stanford coach Johnny Dawkins and assistant [Tim] O’Toole also sat courtside for Jackson’s game. Jackson also recently visited Stanford.
“Stanford’s been real good with me,” Jackson said.
It’s unclear if Jackson will take a Mormon Mission before college or not.
“I’m still undecided on that,” he said. “I thought I was but after I read about it, that might not be the best mission for me so we’ll see.”
Arizona assistant Book Richardson also watched Jackson here.
As far as trips, he will visit Arizona unofficially in August and Duke officially in September.
“I don’t know if it’s going to be an official to Arizona, but I’m definitely going to go down there the first week of August,” he said.
“And then Duke sometime in September, maybe like Labor Day weekend.”
BYU and Utah are local so he said he doesn’t need to take officials there.
