New Eastern Kentucky coach Dan McHale is already scoring some key victories on the recruiting trail.
One day after landing forward Anthony Pratt, Eastern Kentucky secured a pledge from 6-foot-7, 213-pound Rhode Island graduate transfer Jarelle Reischel, who will be immediately eligible in 2015-16 and has one year of eligibility remaining.
“Just the relationship with Coach Dan and the other assistant coaches,” said Reischel, a native of Germany who played at Point Pleasant Beach (N.J.) High. “I loved my visit and they have a winning culture and I want to be a part of it.”
Reischel averaged 3.0 points and 1.9 rebounds last season.
“I’m excited for Jarelle to finish his career at a great place like Eastern Kentucky for a coach like Dan McHale, whose exciting style of play and existing relationship with Jarelle make it a perfect fit,” Point Pleasant coach Nick Catania told SNY.tv.
Meantime, the 6-7, 215-pound Pratt from St. Louis Christian (MO) is a combo forward who chose Eastern Kentucky over Marshall, UTEP and others.
“The relationship that I started to build with the coaches and players and seeing the direction in which Coach McHale wants to take the program just made me want to become a part of that,” Pratt told SNY.tv. “Everyone in the organization has a positive influence on each other and they are just one huge family, something that every recruit is looking for.
“I plan to bring energy and enthusiasm to the program along with my athleticism in hopes of helping the team win games and make it to the NCAA Tournament.”
