Marquette and first-year head coach Steve Wojciechowski landed a key commitment from Loyola Marymount transfer Gabe Levin on Tuesday afternoon, according to multiple reports.

The 6-foot-7 native of Oak Park, Illinois chose the Golden Eagles over Northwestern and Notre Dame. Levin visited all three schools before making his decision.

Levin averaged 11.1 points and 7.1 rebounds last season as a freshman for the Lions, earning All-West Coast Conference freshman team honors as a result.

At the end of a 13-19 season, the school decided not to renew the contract of head coach Max Good. On March 12, LMU hired former St. John’s assistant and one-time Charlotte Bobcats head coach Mike Dunlap. Less than two months later, Levin announced his intentions to transfer.

Levin will sit out next season and will have three years of eligibility beginning with the 2015-16 season.
