COLUMBIA, S.C.- Harry Giles is on the road to recovery from a torn ACL, meniscus and MCL that he suffered playing Team USA basketball this past summer. All ‘the hard work is starting to pay off.

“I’m getting stronger everyday,” Giles told SNY.tv on Friday. “I’ve started running recently, so that feels great to be running again. I’m shooting lately, so it’s stable enough right now to get some shots up.”

Before Giles went down in June, he was the No.1 player in the Class of 2016 and already had offers from Kentucky, UNC, Duke, Florida State, Maryland, Georgetown, N.C. State, Ohio State, and Wake Forest.

“All of the schools that were previously contacted me have stayed in touch,” Giles said. “It hasn’t really increased because I haven’t been playing at all, but everyone has stayed in touch.”

Giles’ Wesleyan Christian Academy team, led by UNC-bound Theo Pinson, took a tough loss on Saturday to a 16-1 Oak Hill Academy team, 70-46, at the Chick-Fil-A Classic on Friday night.

“That’s the hardest part really, sitting on the bench, not being able to help your team, watching them struggle sometimes,” Giles said. “When I get back I’m gonna try to get back to where I was before, and I’m just gonna focus on getting back and getting healthy.”

But Giles won’t have to wait forever to get back on the court.

“They say the timeline for me is around March,” Giles said. “That’s when I’m hoping to get cleared by.”
