Josiah Turner Likely Headed to SMU

Troubled former Arizona point guard Josiah Turner appears headed to SMU assuming the school can get past his recent legal troubles, sources told

“Josiah will land at SMU as long as the recent arrest doesn’t turn coach [Larry] Brown and others off at the University,” a source with direct knowledge of the process told

Turner, 19, was arrested this past week on “extreme DUI suspicion,” blowing a 0.15 or 0.16, per Bruce Pascoe of the Arizona Daily Star.

He was also suspended twice last year by Arizona head coach Sean Miller for violations of team rules.

He was supposed to have visited St. John’s this past weekend, but the visit never came off.

Ironically, if Turner goes to SMU he will still land in the Big East once the school joins the conference in 2013. He will have to sit out next year, SMU’s last season in Conference USA.
