Kansas Visits Tarik Black

Kansas coach Bill Self visited with Memphis transfer Tarik Black Wednesday night, sources confirmed to SNY.tv.

The 6-foot-9 Black is believed to have also met with Duke coach Mike Krzyzewski, Ohio State coach Thad Matta and San Diego State’s Steve Fisher.

According to CBSSports.com, Oregon, Vanderbilt, Florida State, Miami and Minnesota have also tried to get involved or are involved.

The 6-9 Black averaged 8.1 points and 4.8 rebounds as a junior last season for the Tigers.

“I will not be conducting any interviews during this process,” he said by text.

Hopefully TB agrees.

Is he predicting the Bucs to take MM or just going on record as saying he thinks MM is the better pro?

I don't care, I just hope Tony Dungy sees the light on Mariota!

Players at the bottom roster can be dropped anytime though, so it doesn't mean much.

Gotta leave room for the 26 rookies we're going to draft by trading all of our picks down.

Lots of GIF action.

Jets have needed a center field type safety for a long time but not sure how much Bowles will need one or use one in his system with all the quality corners he has now. I think Pryor will be blitzing a lot this year.  I would pass on safety this year unless Bowles likes someone late.

I still can't believe the Seahawks gave away that Super Bowl.

Do you think this is possible?

2015 mock draft

1) Winston TB need QB

2) Mariota TEN need QB

3) Fowler JAX need Passs Rush

4) White OAK need WR

5) Scherff WAS need Pass Protection

6) Leonard Williams/ Vic Beasley For Pass Rush or Amari Cooper to better Offense

WHO WOULD YOU PICK?

Cordell C
Cordell C

I wouldn't be upset with that pick

I like Beasley but don't see a place for him to start on this team.

U trust Beasley setting a edge or dropping into coverage

@tsjc68 @Corey Edmonds

If either Fowler or Beasley are there for us at 6 I think we probably take them, but otherwise agree, trade down, still get a premium pick and enjoy the extra pick(s) in later rounds.    A second 2nd rounder in this draft would be huge.

@Cordell C

He can split time with Pace in certain situations, and will be groomed as Pace's eventual replacement.    Ditto Fowler...or Ray...or any edge rusher we draft.

@hazard2012 @Cordell C idk if anyone but fowler has the base to play the SAM and replace pace, beasley is a tweener and ray is not worth 6. You take cooper at 6 in this scenario and you thank the raiders for going 40 time above all else again

Cordell C
Cordell C

i don't rhink he can play that spot. If we drafted him he would be playing copples spot. Which we don't really need first round talent there.

Bent

@Cordell C Beasley has been compared to Von Miller, who does indeed play Pace's spot.

Cordell C
Cordell C

It's either Folwer or Dupree in my opinion Dupree is perfect to replace Pace. Orginally I wanted to trade back and try to get him in the middle of the first. However now i think he will be one of the top 3 edge rushers drafted; so we might need to stay at six to get him

tsjc68

@Bent @Cordell C

Furthermore, how Rex used Coples and Pace (and Babin and Enemkpali and Reilly) isn't necessarily how Bowles would use them.

Mainly, though, I'd say that all three of your edge players in your rotation are starting guys in today's NFL, just like all three CBs and all three WRs.

YOU might take Cooper in this scenario and be thankful for it, I wouldn't.   I think we can do just as well, perhaps even better, long term, with White or Parker.

@Cordell C

Q: U trust Beasley setting a edge or dropping into coverage?

A: No.  But I trust him to rush the passer, well, and constantly, all game long, and him doing that as well as he can (and nothing else) makes him more than worthy of R1#6.

@Cordell C

About as much as I trusted Von Miller to do that when he was a rookie.

Cordell C
Cordell C

So u want two olbs who can't really play in space. I think Beasley is good best pure rusher in the draft. However I think we need a more complete linebacker on the other side of Copples. To me it's either Fowler or Dupree.

Cordell C
Cordell C

Yeah your right about that, but imo Bowles likes versital players who you can line up and different places and do different things. I can't see him having two guys on the edge rush the passer every play.

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Cordell C

Keep in mind that they've already said that Coples will play both OLB and DL.

Cordell C
Cordell C

He currently plays olb and dl he's really playing de but he's considered our olb

tsjc68
tsjc68

@Cordell C

I am aware that the LEO is an OLB in name and a DE in actuality.

The comments post-Bowles hiring indicate that there will be times where he's just a defensive lineman, as in, not a LEO but maybe just a DE or a DT.

We'll have to see how it plays out, but you could see possibly a four-man front with Mo-Damon-Sheldon-Coples with two or three linebackers behind them (Pace-Harris-Beasley, perhaps).

Cordell C
Cordell C

We will see I mean if they plan on making changes like this to the team I guess we could use Beasley. I just don't want to draft a guy in round 1 and have him on the bench

hazard2012
hazard2012

@Cordell C

Doubt you'll see Fowler or Beasley sitting on the bench, but truth is Bowles didn't have this caliber of DL in AZ, and we have no idea how he might be thinking of using it.

It's also very possible that Cooper would see less play time than any top edge rusher likely will.

Cordell C
Cordell C

I agree I don't want to draft cooper I rather have one of the blazing speed guys later in the draft.
