Ray Kasongo’s on again/off again relationship with the Oregon Ducks is back on.
The 6-foot-9, 230-pound Canadian power forward Tweeted Friday night that he had re-committed to Oregon.
The announcement comes 23 days after Kasongo initially committed to Oregon, only to change his mind and decommit and reconsider UConn.
“I was unsure at first and everything just seemed to happen so fast,” Kasongo said. “Nonetheless I just needed a little bit more time to speak with my familly.”
It didn’t hurt that Oregon has two other Canadians on its roster in redshirt seniors Jason Calliste and Richard Amardi — both of whom are from Scarborough, Ontario.
Oregon also has Northwest Florida forward Michael Chandler on campus for an official this weekend. His uncle told SNY.tv it’s possible Chandler could commit this weekend.
“What made me pick Oregon is what they had to offer me,” Kasongo told SNY.tv. “The coach [Dana Altman] told me that with hard work and my potential I have the possibility to play right away.
“And also my relationship with Dana Altman is great. He is such a great guy and knows a lot about the game. I’m looking forward to playing for him next year.”
