Kobie Eubanks Says Pitt Working Hardest, Will Visit Soon

UNION, N.J. — After going off for a game-high 24 points including five 3-pointers and a vicious two-handed dunk in a 72-56 victory over St. Peter’s Prep at the Metro Classic, Kobie Eubanks said one school is working the hardest for his services.

“Pittsburgh,” the 6-foot-5 Eubanks told SNY.tv.

“They offered back in January but Jamie Dixon has come to see him,” Our Savior assistant Eric Jaklitsch said. “He saw him in practice, he’s been to campus twice to see Damon and all the coaching staff came to see Kobie as well.”

Damon Wilson, a 6-5 junior at Our Savior, is already committed to Pitt, and it’s possible Eubanks, possibly the best available two guard in the Class of 2014, could join him.

“We’re real tight,” Eubanks said of Wilson.

Jaklitsch said Eubanks is “supposed to go visit [Pitt]” March 3 for the N.C. State game.

Eubanks also listed Wichita State, Missouri, Minnesota, Providence, Murray State and Florida State among his other offers.

He may take other visits after Pitt and then make a decision when ready.

“I’m not sure,” he said. “After my visits end. That’s when I’ll decide.”

Asked what he’s looking for in a school, Eubanks said, “Just to fit my ability and get me better and work hard.”

A strong shooter with a good body, Eubanks is working on his ability to slash and drive.

He flashed both skills in this game, pouring in five 3-pointers while also driving for the vicious dunk in the third quarter.

“Kobie Eubanks is as good of 3-point shooter,” longtime New York recruiting expert Tom Konchalski said. “He has a picture-perfect stroke and shooting remains basketball’s EZ Pass. He can really shoot the ball

“His level of athleticism has really spiked. He’s attacking the basket. He’s gotta get a little bit better with the ball but he’s certainly a high-major player. the fact that he’s both a perimeter scoring threat and he can get to the basket now makes him doubly effective.”
