SUWANNEE, Ga.- A common phrase heard thus far at the Nike Memorial Day Classic has been, “Marvin Bagley, he’s a pro.” It’s hard to argue.
At 6-foot-10, Bagley is a player who most consider the best rising sophomore in the nation, and he has put on a show playing up an age group for the Nike EYBL team We All Can Go 16U from Tennessee. Bagley said that there has always only been one goal for him, no matter the hype.
“Just to get better,” Bagley told SNY.tv. “Get better at every aspect of the game. I want to improve my weaknesses, and make them stronger for next year. Playing against guys that are older than me and stronger than me, banging against these guys inside and posting them up is helping me, it can only help me in the long run.”
Playing for Corona Del Sol (Ari.) during the season, Bagley says that playing for a team in the East helps him.
“It’s way different,” Bagley said. “Arizona isn’t as intense. Over here, every game, they really want to beat you, so you have to come out and play hard. Anything can happen, nothing is guaranteed. If you have a game that you are winning, you have to keep playing. Anything can happen.”
Intensity however, is not something that lacks in Bagley’s game. He rebounds the ball extremely well on both ends, and finishes easily with both hands.
Bagley currently has offers from Kentucky, Arizona, UCLA, UConn, Oregon, Arizona State, Memphis, San Francisco, Creighton, Northern Arizona, among many others.
