Melo Wants Tyler Ennis to Stay at Syracuse

NEW YORK — Count Carmelo Anthony among those who would love to see Tyler Ennis stay at Syracuse for his sophomore season.

“He’s legit, I gotta get him to stay, though. Gotta get him to stay,” Anthony told SNY.tv with a smile about Ennis following the Knicks’ 106-91 loss to the Heat Saturday night at Madison Square Garden.

Most Syracuse fans probably feel the same way.

Ennis went for 14 points and 9 assists as No. 2 Syracuse remained unbeaten with a 91-89 OT victory over Duke before 35,446 at the Carrier Dome.

The overtime period delayed the start of the Knicks game until 8:43 p.m. because both were shown on ESPN.

Ennis, the freshman point guard from Brampton, Ontario, is projected as the No. 13 pick in the 2014 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com and will face an interesting decision after the season.

“Tyler can choose,” one veteran NBA scout told SNY.tv in terms of Ennis’ options following the season.

Tony McIntyre, Ennis’ father, previously told SNY.tv that if Ennis returned next season, Syracuse would have a loaded backcourt.

Count Anthony, who led the Orange to the NCAA title in 2003, among those who would love to see it happen.

@AdamZagoria Would he feel the same way if Cuse wins the Nat'l Championship? Melo himself went for NBA $ after he got his chip.

This piece should be titled, "Melo to Ennis: Do as I say not as I do"

We have had a lot of guys come out early and fail. Melo is our most shining success story. I want whatever's best for Tyler. We have Kaleb Joseph, who is more of a Jonny Flynn type guy, coming, so Boeheim is prepared, just like he was last year when MCW left. I think Tyler could use another year to solidify his scoring and transition game, but he should take out an insurance policy.

@AdamZagoria Knicks probably told him if Ennis comes out, "Be free, find that money you'll be looking for.."
