Melvin Swift is a 6-foot-7 power forward from Houston Yates High School who has recently narrowed his college list and will sign in the spring.

This is his first Player Blog for ZAGSBLOG.

    Hey basketball fans.

My name is Melvin Swift. I live in Houston, TX. I currently attend Jack Yates High School in the Third Ward area of Houston. I played AAU with Houston Select and the Houston Defenders in the past couple of summers. I’m writing this blog to let you guys know what acceptance to attend different colleges has been like.

Recruiters have been looking at me for sometime now. I had offers from Miami University, Oklahoma, Oregon, Xavier, etc. I committed to Xavier in October of 2012, but that didn’t go as planned. I decommitted from Xavier and other offers started rolling in. I got offers from UMass, UConn, St. John’s, Baylor, Penn State, OKWU, SMU, etc.

I narrowed my choices down to UMass, UConn, and SMU. I’m taking it one step at a time to choose the right school. I’m still doing visits and plan on visiting all the schools very soon. I will be making my decision in the Spring of 2014, so be on the lookout. And check back here for future blogs.
