Boys & Girls senior shooting guard Mike Taylor is focusing on six schools, according to assistant coach Elmer Anderson.

The 6-foot-3, 185-pound Taylor is looking at St. John’s, Rutgers, Pittsburgh, West Virginia, South Florida and South Carolina.

“Those six schools are the ones that have been consistent with him,” Anderson said Monday.

Maryland and Virginia Tech have also been linked to Taylor, but those schools have not been as consistently involved.

“He’s got the same schools that were pretty much involved with him before,” Anderson said.

Other schools have asked to come in and watch Taylor during open gyms at Boys & Girls and the list may grow.

“Come September, they’ll be allowed to get involved if he’s interested,” Anderson said.

No official visits have been scheduled.

Taylor has had an impressive summer, helping Boys & Girls win four key New York City events, including the recent EBC Rucker high school championship and the YES Smartball Metro Classic Final 4. The Kangaroos beat both Rice and NIA Prep to win that event.

The sweet-shooting Taylor also scored 17 of his 19 points in 3 1/2 minutes Saturday as Team New York beat Team Philly in the Golden Hoops event. Team New York beat Team New Jersey in the final.

Taylor now takes a brief break before heading to Turkey with a New York City All-Star team coached by Kimani Young and Bernard Bowen that will compete from Aug. 28-Sept 2.
