859UctCd.jpg-largeMikey Dixon, a 6-foot-2, 165-pound point guard from the Sanford (DE) School, committed to Quinnipiac on Friday.

Dixon also considered Rider, Iona, Robert Morris and Canisius.

“I really had a good relationship with head coach Tom Moore,” Dixon said. “I bring a scoring point guard to the program.”

Dixon is Moore’s first commit for 2016.

“Quinnipiac is getting a ‘special  player and a great person,” Sanford coach Stan Waterman said. “Mikey is an explosive scorer, great shooter (with range), strong ball handler, good passer and the ultimate competitor. He has a great feel for the game and can play either guard position.”
