Montaque Gill-Caesar, a 6-foot-6, 200 pound junior out of Huntington Prep (WV), visited Kentucky Sunday for the No. 1-ranked team’s blowout victory over Northern Kentucky.

“It was good,” he told SNY.tv. “I felt comfortable.”

He said head coach John Calipari told him, “Only guys that are tough are able to play in a Kentucky-type atmosphere. He talked about who’s possibly leaving and the opportunity I’d have.”

Even as Kentucky is stocked with future NBA first-round picks, Calipari is planning ahead for next year and beyond.

“They have to bring in more guys,” Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford told SNY.tv. “Obviously, losing most of the current team, they need guys that can come in and play. He knows that Teki is good enough, whether ’14 or ’15.”

Gill-Caesar, who currently holds offers from Providence, Illinois, Baylor, Memphis, Purdue, Missouri, West Virginia and Alabama, has yet to decide whether he will reclass to 2014 from 2015, similar to the way Andrew Wiggins moved up a class.

Ranked 19th in the class of 2015 by ESPN, Gill-Caesar has drawn comparisons to Wiggins, a fellow Canadian, but previously told SNY.tv that he sees the similarities, but is his own person on the court.

“I take little things but at the same time I’m my own player,” he said. “I try to add some of my own stuff to my game, but yeah he’s helped me a lot.”
