Myles Turner has cut his list down to Oklahoma State, Kansas, Texas, Ohio State, Duke, Arizona and Kentucky. But after a visit to SMU, he says that the Mustangs are still in the mix.
“They weren’t on my list last time, but they are somewhat back in the running now,” Turner told Mustangs Madness in an interview after the visit. “They are kind of like a dark horse so to say. I still have my official list, but SMU is still kind of in the mix.”
Turner, ranked No.2 in the nation by ESPN, said that coaches from SMU stay in contact fairly frequently.
“The SMU coaches have kept in contact with me,” he said in the interview with Mustangs Madness. “I talk to Coach Ulric Maligi a lot and coach Larry Brown talks to my dad a lot. They have a great staff and they are very family-orientated.”
SMU currently has one commit for the class of 2014 in Emmanuel Mudiay, the No. 5 player in the class of 2014. Turner says that Mudiay and he have discussed the idea of playing together.
“Sometimes I talk to Emmanuel Mudiay about the possibility of playing here with him,” Turner said in the interview. “He hits me up. Recently, Keith Frazier has been hitting me up on Twitter a lot, too. I wouldn’t say it’s anything too serious though. ”
Turner’s father previously told SNY.tv that the McDonald’s All American Game and the Nike Hoop Summit will be a big decision making period.
“It is an excellent opportunity for Myles to judge for himself where he is,” Turner’s father David told SNY.tv.
