vancouver meanwhile played in nj last night and has been having a nice day on long island, preparing for tomorrow's game.  in terms of travel, they're almost like the rested home team with the islanders coming in on a back-to-back.  tricky spot.

i see the new trend is giving up a late period goal..got to stop that crap!!!!!!

A point is a point. I'll take it. A point here and there goes a long way. Way to go isles to get that point back.

I don't understand why it is that when the Isles get to the offensive zone, no one goes after the puck, they just automatically vacate the zone and turn defensive. The difference was the caps chiped in the puck all day and kept it in the offensive zone. I think we play a little scared with Ovechkin. Hell, we are better than them...make them chase us!...That's Islander hockey!

@erika fair point but when you are playing a guy who has killed you for yrs you need to do something different. Ovi has owned us it was nice to see him not light us up for once.

Solid effort today. Johnson was a rock today. Slowly getting his game where it needs to be. Play halak tomorrow Johnson tues get halak rested for fri. Grabbo was missed big time today. His puck possession and it's always in the others team end. He's solid. Next three games should be wins. Calgary will be tough but they are on a long road trip.

Great effort to tie the game but shootout showed very little interest. If they only played the 3rd period like they did the last 2 minutes they may have won that one in regulation. Probably trying to save themselves for tomorrow game vs Van but would rather see them get the extra point against a division foe that is now 4 pts back.

@nyicdneh the mistake was the goal they gave up in the third period.  boychuk went forward and took a low, hard shot, the kind that off the goalies pads can come way out and start a breakout.  i guess in that situation you have to shoot high.  it would have been nice if cj had made the big save there, but that's #1 star stuff.

@nyicdneh I agree, I would play Halak against  division foes who are creeping way too close to us for my liking..although Chad was good tonight!

Nice lose point under the circumstances.  Mall Rat seemed to play well but you can see how the isles missed Grabbo.  Bailey made a great pass on that first goal to Travis.   Is Okposo coming back?  No need to give up assets to get anyone who won't be anymore productive than what we already have is what i am thinking at this point.  Pay the price we have to pay to the Sabers and get it over with.  This group has earned the right to sizzle or fizzle in the playoffs.
