The Northfield Mount Hermon quartet of Ian Sistare, Aaron Falzon, Josh Sharma and AJ Broduer are taking a cross-country trip with coaches John Carroll and James Cormier to visit numerous schools. They will be contributing a Player Blog to ZAGSBLOG along the way. Check back later for future updates on visits and offers.

My name is Ian Sistare. I am from Dublin N.H., and I have been attending Northfield Mount Hermon School for the past two years. Next year, I will be entering my junior year. My freshman year, our basketball team won the National Prep School Championship going 29-6. This past season, we made it to the National Prep Final Four. Hopefully, we will be able to make another run at the championship in years to come.

This June, our head coach John Carroll and assistant James Cormier are taking Aaron Falzon ’15, Josh Sharma ’15, AJ Broduer ’16 and myself on a tour of Midwest schools of interest. We have visited Penn State, Ohio State and Xavier so far on the trip. All three places have their unique qualities and I can say for sure we have all enjoyed the visits. The coaching staffs have been so welcoming and excited to see us which has opened our eyes to their humility.

The first stop of the trip was Penn State. The coaches focused on all four of us. The coaches and players enjoyed a successful past season winning 16 games. I love the philosophy behind this program. Attitude is the key element which is awesome and intriguing. Great stuff to come from Penn State basketball. We are Penn State!

During our visit to Ohio State the focus was on Josh. Ohio State has almost completed their recruiting class for 2015. They are only missing a big man which Josh would be a perfect fit to fill their need!. The facilities and people are off the charts and we thoroughly enjoyed seeing Ohio State. Assistant Coach Jeff Boals gave us his favorite sub shop, Easy Living, and his signature sub “the Jeff Boals special” which Coach Carroll, James and Josh enjoyed. The sandwich contained pastrami, corned beef, thousand island dressing and coleslaw on a bulkie roll. Quite a combination! Go Buckeyes!

This afternoon, we drove down to Cincinnati and Xavier University. During a meeting with head coach, Chris Mack, I was lucky enough to receive an offer from Xavier. Coach Mack and his staff have things rolling at Xavier and best of all, they are humble and good people striving for greatness. It means a lot to me that a school such as Xavier would want me on their program. Thank you to Xavier! Can’t wait to continue the visits with my coaches and teammates. All for one!

Off to Purdue and Illinois on Friday. Looking forward to catching up with NMH great, Aaron Cosby ’11, when we visit the Illini. Always great to catch up with the NMH family.

    Go NMH!
