At this rate, the next Rutgers coach might not have any players to coach at all.
Junior wing Mike Poole is the latest player to request his transfer, his mentor, Nate Blue, told SNY.tv Tuesday.
“Hopefully, this will be done in a timely manner,” Blue told SNY.tv.
The 6-foot-5 Rosedale, N.Y., native averaged 4.4 points and 3.0 rebounds in 18.6 minutes last season.
Poole, who has just one year of eligibility left, would follow Jerome Seagears, Malick Kone and Vincent Garrett out the door in the wake of the Mike Rice videotape scandal.
Other key players, Eli Carter, Myles Mack and Kadeem Jack, have yet to say they will transfer, but more defections could follow.
“As of now, I’m still 100 percent committed to Rutgers,” Jack told SNY.tv.
Meantime, onetime Rutgers commit Shane Rector of South Kent (Conn.) will take an official visit to Missouri beginning Friday, his father, Deshon Rector, confirmed to SNY.tv.
JUCO wing Chris Griffin previously decommitted and pledged to Auburn.
Rutgers has been negotiating with Eddie Jordan to become its next coach but nothing is finalized.
