Uncommitted 2013 forward Julius Randle won the Under Armour Elite 24 dunk contest Friday night in Venice Beach, Calif., while Kansas pledge Conner Frankamp took the 3-point contest.
The 6-foot-9 Randle received a perfect score of 50 from a panel of judges that included former Duke point guard Kyrie Irving after he went behind his back with the ball and then flushed it with his left hand. He edged Canadian sophomore Jamar Ergas, who plays for Grassroots Canada.
Randle is considering numerous high-major powers, including Duke, North Carolina, Kentucky, Kansas, Texas and Baylor. He told SNY.tv earlier this week he could imagine playing at Kentucky along with Andrew Wiggins and the Harrison Twins. Wiggins and the twins will be on display in Saturday night’s Elite 24 game.
The 6-foot Frankamp proved that Kansas is getting one heck of an outside shooter by scoring 17 points in the semifinals and then putting up 19 against Rashad Vaughn in the final.
