Roselle (N.J.) Catholic point guard Isaiah Briscoe will visit Kentucky on Sunday following his official visit to UConn this weekend and could add a Kentucky offer before he leaves.
His father confirmed to visit to SNY.tv.
“[Kentucky coach John Calipari] didn’t offer, he said he doesn’t think it’s fair if he offered me and I was able to take the scholarship without going to see Kentucky,” Briscoe told SNY.tv last week when talking about his home visit.
“He wants me to go visit and I’ll go visit within a couple weeks or so. He said he loves guards, he needs guards and the people that he puts in the NBA and what they’re doing in the NBA is shocking. It’s just a blessing”
Briscoe also has official visits slated to Missouri Oct. 10 and St. John’s Oct. 17.
The Star-Ledger previously reported Briscoe would visit Kentucky this weekend.
Meantime, following his in-home visit with Calipari and assistant Kenny Payne, Antonio Blakeney may visit the school, too, Steve Jones of the Courier-Journal reports.
The 6-foot-4 Blakeney could opt to go Oct. 17 for Big Blue Madness, when Stephen Zimmerman, Brandon Ingram, Carlton Bragg, Tyus Battle and others will go.
“That’s probably a choice of when we’ll look at going up there,” Each 1 Teach 1 coach Steven Reece told Jones.
Blakeney, who recently decommitted from Louisville, also met with N.C. State Thursday and meets with North Carolina Monday, while St. John’s and Indiana will be in next week. Blakeney met this week with LSU, Missouri, USC and Kentucky.
“Great In home visit with Coach [Mark] Gottfried and coach [Orlando] Early from NC State .!!” Blakeney Tweeted.
The St. John’s development is interesting since the Johnnies are also recruiting Briscoe, who would like to see the team upgrade its roster.
St. John’s is an Under Armour school, while the others are Nike and Louisville is Adidas.
Briscoe and Blakeney are close and are expected to visit Missouri together Oct. 10.
“[Head coach Kim Anderson] just wanted a shot,” Briscoe said. “Me, [ Blakeney] and [Thomas] Bryant are gonna go up there [on an official]. He said give him a chance, I’ll give him a chance.”
PITINO VISITS ALKINS
Louisville head coach Rick Pitino met with 2016 Christ the King guard Rawle Alkins Thursday at the school.
“The meeting went well,” CTK assistant Killian Reilly said. “He showed him a video detailing Louisville’s campus and facilities with their style of play.”
Pitino offered Alkins over the summer and told him he would “love” to see Alkins in a Cardinals uniform.
Cincinnati coach Mick Cronin and assistant Darren Savino also saw Alkins Wednesday.
