Under his previous contract, Calipari earned $6.5 million last season and the annual salary will escalate annually, eventually reaching $8 million beginning in 2018-19. He also has incentives based on APR scores. There is no buyout in the contract, a source told SNY.tv.
Kentucky went 38-1 this season, losing in the national semifinals to Wisconsin after starting the season 38-0.
The Wildcats could have as many as seven players chosen in the June 25 NBA Draft with New Jersey native Karl-Anthony Towns projected by many to be the No. 1 overall pick.
Six Kentucky players will participate this week in the NBA Combine in Chicago, with Towns sitting it out due to his status as a projected top-2 pick.
