Ronnie Harrell, a 6-foot-7, 179-pound small forward from Denver East, verbally pledged to Creighton Monday.
Harrell said he also considered Kansas State, Purdue and Loyola Marymount.
“I liked their fan base,” he told SNY.tv. “They have amazing fans. I feel like I can go there and get a great eduation. The players out there are second to none. All of them are great guys. They treated me liek I was already part of the team.
“I liked Coach [Greg] McDermott, all the coaches. They’re all great guys. I felt like it was the school for me.”
Harrell is a shooter who can defend multiple positions.
“One of the main things that Coach McDermott feels is I can play multiple positions for them,” Harrell said. “I can guard multiple positions. My main strength his shooting.”
Said Denver East coach Rudy Carey: “Ronnie is a great perimeter shooter with good ball-handling passing skills.”
Harrel has never played in Madison Square Garden but is excited to do so for the Big East Tournament

Harrell joins Missouri City (TX) small forward Leon Gilmore in Creighton’s 2014 class.
“Leon is a very versatile forward who plays with great energy,” Houston Hoops coach Tim Schumacher told SNY.tv. “He is best playing in transition and using his effort to create plays.”
