Seton Hall Pledge Delgado to The Patrick School (UPDATED)

Seton Hall pledge and former Huntington Prep power forward Angel Delgado has been enrolled at The Patrick School in Elizabeth, N.J. since last week and is expected to play with the team at the Holiday Classic in San Diego Dec. 26-30, head coach Chris Chavannes told SNY.tv.

New Jersey rules require six practices before a player can suit up in a game once they transfer. The team’s next game is Friday in San Diego.

“He enrolled last week and has been working out with the team,” Chavannes told SNY.tv.

“He is a vacuum on the boards on both ends. He finishes very well in the paint. He will draw doubles and special attention which will take a ton of pressure off our young guys.”

Seton Hall and The Patrick School — formerly St. Patrick High School — have a long history. Both associate head coach Shaheen Holloway and coordinator of basketball operations Grant Billmeier went there. Onetime Seton Hall pledge Aquille Carr also briefly enrolled at the school.

Delgado is part of a highly-ranked Seton Hall class that also includes swingman Ismael Sanogo and guards Isaiah Whitehead and Khadeen Carrington.

Sources told SNY.tv that Delgado is on track to qualify for the 2014-15 college season.

“The uncle decided on him going to The Patrick School,” New York Lightning coach Dana Dingle told SNY.tv, referring to Delgado’s uncle who lives in The Bronx.

Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford said the 6-foot-9 Dominican Republic forward left the school because “of a combination of academics and playing time.”

Dingle said he was also homesick.

“He left in good standing,” Dingle said. “The kid was just homesick. The only people he has here is his uncle. It was just too much. He had no family and no friends.”
