SMU continued its wave of recruiting success Tuesday when Sedrick Barefield, a 6-foot-2 point guard from Corona (CA) Centennial, verbally pledged to head coach Larry Brown and the Mustangs.

“For those who don’t know I have officially committed SMU,” he Tweeted.

Ranked No. 85 in the Class of 2015 by Rivals, Barefield also had offers from Boston College, San Diego State and UConn, according to Future150.com.

SMU has McDonald’s All-American Emmanuel Mudiay signed for 2014 but he could be a one-and-done as he is projected as the No. 5 pick in the 2015 NBA Draft by DraftExpress.com.

SMU is also involved with 2015 St. Anthony forward Markis McDuffie, 2015 Roselle Catholic forward Chris Silva, 2015 Roselle Catholic guard Isaiah Briscoe and 2015 Lancaster (TX) forward Elijah Thomas.

Thomas recently visited for SMU’s victory over Cincinnati.

“I thought it was cool,” Thomas, who said he’s also being recruited by Texas and Oklahoma, among others, told the Dallas Morning News. “It was a great game and a great atmosphere, and that’s what us recruits love to see. It was a great experience for us. The team played really hard, and I think Larry Brown is doing a tremendous job there. That win was great for the program, and I would have to say that game was the best I’ve been to.”
