Taurean Thompson, a 6-foot-9 power forward now at Brewster (N.H.) Academy, took his first official visit to Xavier this weekend and really enjoyed himself.
“The visit went extremely well,” he told SNY.tv. “It was my first official so I did not know what to expect. I was looking forward to finally meeting Coach [Chris] Mack, the rest of the coaching staff an the reps of the school in person.
“I feel comfortable with the current players, incoming recruits and what role I would play. The most important part of the visit for me was more about watching how the players responded to Coach and to get a feel for the campus and program. Now I can’t wait to see the game atmosphere in the Cintas Center. I’m excited.”
Xavier already has two commits in the Class of 2016 in point guard Quentin Goodin and power forward Tyrique Jones.
Thompson, meantime, is coming off recent visits to Big Ten schools Rutgers and Maryland.
“Each school has something different to offer my position,” he said.
Next up he heads to Brewster (N.H.) Academy to get settled in and then he will trip to Syracuse later this month after the Orange offered him.
“I hope to visit [Xavier] again if I have the time,” he said. “Syracuse is later this month. Just focused on settling in at Brewster Academy for now.”
