TAMPA, Fla. — Thomas Bryant, one of the best unsigned big men in the Class of 2015, says that he still hasn’t set any more visits, but the date for doing so could be coming soon.
He recently took an unofficial to Kentucky and plans to take an official going forward.
“Maybe, I’m just trying to get through the month of January,” Bryant told SNY.tv after Huntingon (W.V.) Prep’s 68-62 win over Oldsmar Christian in which he scored 17 points. “I just have to play everything by ear. Right now, I’m just focused on school and helping the team get as many wins as we can.”
Ranked No. 25 in the class of 2015 by 247 Sports, Bryant told SNY.tv recently that he is focusing on four schools Kentucky, Syracuse, Indiana and Missouri.
Kentucky could lose three centers — Karl-Anthony Towns, Willie Cauley-Stein and Dakari Johnson — as well as freshman forward Trey Lyles to the NBA Draft. They currently have Skal Labissiere signed for 2015, and are in the mix for numerous other uncommitted bigs, including Ivan Rabb, Cheick Diallo, Caleb Swanigan, Stephen Zimmerman and Thon Maker, who may reclass from 2016.
Bryant says he will keep an eye on who leaves Kentucky, leaving open roster spots.
“Oh yeah, of course,” Bryant said. “You don’t want to go to a place where they will recruit a ton of guys in your spot, and you’d be that benchwarmer that plays for two or three minutes a game and then comes out. That’s what I’m looking for with Kentucky. I’m looking to see if those big men go into the draft.”
