Austin Colbert, a 6-foot-9 sophomore forward from Chesapeake, Va., is going home.
Colbert will transfer to Old Dominion from Illinois and sit out next season before having two years remaining, he confirmed to SNY.tv.
“No place like home,” Colbert said by text. “They are on an upward trend and I’m blessed that they wanted me to be a part of something special. I’m prepared to play whatever role coach [Jeff] Jones and the staff see fit for me. I will sit a year and get stronger and improve my game.
Colbert averaged 1.7 points and 2.2 rebounds last year at Illinois.
JORDAN CAROLINE TO NEVADA
Jordan Caroline, a 6-7 freshman wing from Champaign, Ill., will transfer to Nevada from Southern Illinois and have three years remaining after sitting out next season.
He averaged 9.2 points and 6.2 rebounds last season.
“Just the trust I have with their coaching staff [led by Eric Musselman],” he told SNY.tv. “They’re an amazing group of guys and I like what they envision and what they’re trying to do with the program.”
Caroline also considered Xavier, Cincinnati and Middle Tennessee State.
ANTON GILL TO NEBRAKSA
Louisville transfer Anton Gill is headed to Nebraska, he confirmed to SNY.tv.
“It was the big fit for me and I felt comfortable with the coaches,” he said by text, adding that he also considered Georgetown and East Carolina.
The 6-3 Raleigh, N.C., native averaged 2.5 points last season at Louisville, but played well against N.C. State in the Elite 8, scoring seven points.
Gill will sit next season and will have two years of eligibility remaining.
Jon Rothstein of CBSSports.com first reported the transfer.
