Tyler Ulis, one of the top point guards in the Class of 2014, has joined the parade of elite players trimming their lists.

The 5-foot-9 Ulis out of Chicago Marian High is down to USC, Iowa, Kentucky and Michigan State.

Among the quartet, Kentucky has yet to offer, having only offered point guards Tyus Jones and Emmanuel Mudiay.

Michigan State has long been recruiting Ulis and, as The Sporting News pointed out,  Ulis’ cousin, Travis Walton, was a three-year Spartans captain who played in the 2009 NCAA title game against North Carolina.

“It doesn’t matter where I go,” Ulis told SNY.tv earlier this summer. “I don’t really have to stay in the area of Illinois because I’m actually from Ohio. It’s just wherever fits best.

“Hopefully, if I get the right pieces around me I can be pretty good. I’m a pass first point guard and hopefully that will open it up for me.”
