With Duke assistant Nate James and Ohio State assistant Greg Paulus on hand, Tyus Battle did not fail to impress.

The 6-foot-5 Gladstone (N.J.) Gill St. Bernard’s sophomore guard went for 24 points, 8 rebounds and 6 assists to lead Gill to an 81-46 victory over Watchung Hills Monday night.

“The Duke staff loved him,” Gill coach Mergin Sina told SNY.tv.

“Mergin told me that he got tremendous feedback from [Steve ‘Wojo’ Wojciechowski] and that James loved him,” Gary Battle, Tyus’ father, added.

“Paulus thought Tyus was much improved since his last visit and he loves him.”

Gary said Duke has yet to officially offer but the program has done pretty well with New Jersey guards in the past, having landed Bobby Hurley, Jay Williams and Kyrie Irving.

“This kid is of the charts,” Sina previously told SNY.tv. “I don’t use this term. This kid will be a pro and I think he’s the best player in the state. A lot of coaches might get upset about that, but I think he’s the best player in the state because he does a little bit of everything.”

Battle also plans to attend Wednesday’s Butler-Villanova game and plans to visit Ohio State March 9 for the Michigan State game. He will also visit Michigan June 7.
