Tyus Jones Cuts to Seven

Tyus Jones, the No. 1 point guard in the Class of 2014, has trimmed his list to seven schools, according to Rivals.com.

He has recently had home visits with Duke, Baylor, Ohio State, Michigan State and Kansas.

Kentucky and Minnesota are also on the list.

Here’s what he told Rivals about his visits through Sunday:

On Duke: “We had a good visit with them. Talked a little about why they feel I would fit in their program and stuff like that.”

On Baylor: “I also had a good visit with them. They were just pitching to myself and my family why they think I could fit in their program and the perks of going to Baylor and stuff like that.”

On Michigan State: “It was another good visit.”

On Ohio State: “We also had a great visit with them. We had a great time with all of the colleges. It was really all the same – myself and my family have a great relationship with all the coaches. So it was really relaxed and nothing too tense or anything like that.”

If the Jets take Mariota, Beasley, or Cooper I'm happy

Any of those 3 is a win

Yes I love Collins

Collins & Flowers are the o lineman I like. Scherff also...

I would be surprised if the Jets pick an o-lineman though in round 1

I like Fowler just not as much as you but that is obvious

I'd imagine you sleep in a Fowler jersey

I could see more than one disappointing which is why I think Cooper is the safest pick or even a guy like Colllins

The only guy I am comfortable gambling on is Mariota because he can sit and learn for a year

@bradysucks Look back over last years first rd, or any. They all look great before the draft.

I think Rex will move up to get Fowler.  He already has the #6 tattoo.

Greatest Collins clip ever haha.

@bradysucks Assuming Mariota is gone, you gotta take Cooper, even before a Beasley type. Can't let another draft go by without improving the offense with a first round talent.

The ripple effect of having a 3 competant WRs will impact the RB, QB, TE positions and the ENTIRETY of the defense who wont be gassed by the 4th quarter because we can actually sustain drives.

Odell rose up the chart last year late, originally he was getting thrown in the mix with Cooks and marquise lee, even Jarvis landry and Cody Litimer but he separated himself leading up to the draft.  Third best as far as the "experts" saw it, behind Evans because of size and Watkins because of straight line speed. To me he was the 2nd best wr in draft, Evans has the size and strength.  As for Odell and Amari cooper, they are similar but odell highpoints the ball better, has a quicker burst and better hands but Cooper is a solid, fast, great route runner, got better with contested balls, and is polished.  If he were a Jet this year with Marshall, Decker, Kerely and Amaro...watch out, but how many times are you gonna run 4 wideouts? I'd skip Cooper and  take Beasley, he's the best pass rusher, quickest get off, lives in the backfield, just teach him how to pursue and shed a run block.

@Ted Velvet

Odell Beckham and Sammy Watkins had the same 40 time...

@Ted Velvet Regardless of 4 wideouts. If they have him rated higher than Beasley they should take him. That's what the smart teams do.

If the Jets draft Cooper he will replace Kerley in their 3 wide set.

Kerley will become the 4th wideout if he is not traded to a place like KC for a 6th round pick.

@Tooned In @Ted Velvet Totally agree. Cooper is a polished WR with excellent run after the catch ability. 3 competent WRs will have a tremendous impacts on the rest of the team, EVEN the defense who will have some time to breath while we sustain drives.

Wonder if we can get a third or fourth rd pick from somebody willing to take a flyer on Milliner (the self professed best corner in the league)?

@GreenHornet I think Dee, if he stays healthy, will shock a lot of people this year. I admit that that's a sizable "if," though.

Why the hurry by some to give Milliner away?   Totally agree you can't count on him for anything, but you're right, IF he can stay healthy he can be an important contributor.    Big if, but there's no need to give up on him just yet....especially now that Revis is back in the fold.   Who better to mentor him?

Brendan
Brendan

@GreenHornet It's really weird that you keep talking about Milliner's fragility and talking up Dex, who has spent more time on the shelf the past two years than Milliner has.

Besides, who knows what Dex can and can't do?   He's never played a down in the NFL.   I'd hold onto both of them if possible and see what they can do under Bowles.  Plenty of time to dump them later...but...if you look at the way Macc has structured the deals in his new secondary they could be nice aces to have in the hole.

@GreenHornet No, I know who Dee/Dex are and know who I'm talking about when I use their names.

@GreenHornet Oh, dude I'm not cross in the slightest. I'm just working at a million miles an hour to get things set up for my vacation. I missed the tone (that you were joking). My bad.

Cooper and ODB have a similar route running skill set and athleticism. Where odb leaps out over Cooper is his ability to always catch the football... His hands are the best I've seen, granted im only 25

Just so I am on record....

I was kidding Smooth about Fowler being a bust

GreenHornet
GreenHornet

@lagoo So why was Watkins rated and drafted higher than Odell?. It's not an exact science...

Brendan
Brendan

@GreenHornet Evans had a lot of buzz about him, too. OBJ was seen as part of the top tier, but not the top guy.

@GreenHornet It still makes me laugh that people argued against the idea that Evans made Manziel look better. Manziel's deep balls were arm punts that Evans just demolished DB's to win.
