The 6-foot-8 Wiggins scored 18 points as Huntington (W.V.) Prep beat Quality Education (N.C.), 50-42.

“I just try and make the big play,” Wiggins told USA Today. “Whatever that means. Whatever we need I like to be the one to make the big play.”

There were more Kentucky fans supporting Wiggins at the game than North Carolina fans, sources told SNY.tv.

No other college coaches were in attendance to watch Wiggins, the No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2013.

North Carolina is recruiting Wiggins, but the Tar Heels played in Maui through Wednesday.

Former Tar Heel legend Michael Jordan was at the event in the morning to watch his nephew, Justin Jordan of Davidson Day (Davidson, N.C.), but he was not permitted to stay for other games, per NCAA rules.

On Sunday, Kentucky coach John Calipari and assistants Orlando Antigua and Kenny Payne watched Wiggins and Huntington Prep play at Scott County High School in Kentucky.

Florida State and Kentucky have long been perceived to be the leaders for Wiggins. His parents both attended Florida State and Kentucky has been involved the longest.

He also listed Kansas and Ohio State in addition to Kentucky, Florida State and North Carolina.

Wiggins will sign in the spring.

Huntington (W.V.) Prep shooting guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes on Saturday committed to Florida State, the alma mater of his father, choosing the Seminoles over Illinois and UConn.

“In the end with Florida State I just felt it was a family atmosphere,” the Canadian said on CIA Bounce TV. “Coach [Leonard] Hamilton is a great guy and their coaching staff, I just felt really welcome to the program. I feel like I can go there and make an immediate impact in the best conference in America.”

The 6-foot-4 Rathan Mayes averaged 14.6 points, 4.5 assists and 4.0 rebounds a game while shooting 44 percent from 3-point range as a junior.

“Everybody knows I can score the ball at a high level,” said Rathan-Mayes, whose father, Tharon, averaged more than 23 points one season at FSU. “I feel like I can go in and be a leader and help lead the team to ultimately a national championship , because winning’s everything.”

“Obviously, I think anyone who’s watched X knows he can play a couple different positions,” Huntington coach Rob Fulford previously told SNY.tv. “He’s a scorer. He’s a really good shooter. He can play the point. He can play the two. It depends on the style of play.”

Florida State is also recruiting Huntington’s Andrew Wiggins, a 6-8 small forward considered the best high school player in America. Wiggins has yet to announce whether he will reclassify to 2013 or remain in the Class of 2014.

“It’s crazy,” Rathan-Mayes told ESPN.com last summer. “[Our fathers] playing together and they played on the 76ers together, as well. Me and Wiggins growing up together and playing on the same AAU team, now on the same high school and maybe going to college together — that’s pretty special.

“We lived about 15 minutes from each other [in Canada], but our dads were always together. We hung out all the time and played ball at the rec center.”

UNLV ADDS KENDRICK

UNLV continued to stockpile transfers by adding former Memphis wing Jelan Kendrick.

The 6-7 Atlanta native and former McDonald’s All-American committed to the Rebels Saturday while on an official visit, according to CBSSports.com.

“I believe it’s been a learning experience for me,” Kendrick told CBSSports on Saturday. “I’ve become a better person and my goal at UNLV is to help them win a national title and reach my final destination as an NBA player.”

Kendrick was twice suspended at Memphis for behavioral issues before being kicked off the team. He never played a game there.

He landed at Ole Miss but spent only one season there. At one point during a game against Alabama, he went into the stands during a game to get his girlfriend.

The Las Vegas Sun reported he will spend this year at Indian Hills Community College before arriving at UNLV next season as a junior.

Huntington Prep shooting guard Xavier Rathan-Mayes will visit Illinois this coming weekend and UConn the following weekend, according to the New Haven Register.

Illinois head coach John Groce and assistant Dustin Ford visited the 6-foot-4 shooting guard Tuesday at the West Virginia school, and UConn head coach Kevin Ollie and assistant Karl Hobbs were in on Monday.

He is also considering Florida State, alma mater of his parents.

“It definitely plays a factor, my dad playing at Florida State,” he told the paper. “Not a lot of kids can say their dad played at the same school recruiting you. My dad being from Connecticut, me playing at UConn when I was younger, I think it would be just as special. I know a lot of people there from Hillhouse, friends and familys down there.”

Rathan-Mayes said his visit with Ollie went well.

“It was great,” he said. “We had a great discussion, talked about the way I’d fit into the program. I really love Coach Ollie. He’s just a great person, a great guy. I think he’s definitely going to do special things with UConn in the future.”

Florida State was his first visit, and is recruiting teammate Andrew Wiggins, who is expected to decide soon whether to reclassify to 2013 from 2014.

“It’s hard,” Rathan-Mayes said. “There are a lot of great things about all the programs. My mom and dad are on the phone with me constantly, writing down the pros and cons. I wouldn’t say one’s standing out right now.”

The 6-4 Rathan-Mayes Tweeted, “My top 5 are Baylor, FSU, Uconn, Illinois and Texas no specific order.”

Rathan-Mayes, who plays on the CIA Bounce AAU team alongside Syracuse-bound point guard Tyler Ennis and uncommitted 2014 wing Andrew Wiggins, has yet to take the SAT and thus cannot take any official visits.

He will take an unofficial next week to Florida State, Huntington Prep coach Rob Fulford told SNY.tv. His father, Tharon, attended FSU, as did Wiggins’s parents.

“The kid can score,” Bounce coach Tony McIntyre told SNY.tv last month. “He can shoot the ball. I think getting into a college sysem will help him with his endurance and his training. There’s no flaw in his game right now. He can straight up score so I don’t see any head coach not wanting a kid like that.

“It’s going to come down to where he’s going to play and play a lot as well,” McIntyre added.

Boris Bojanovsky, a 7-foot-3 native of the Slovak Republic, has committed to Florida State for 2012.

He also held offers from N.C. State, Virginia Tech, Miami, Georgia Tech, Mississippi State and others.

“This was always the goal for me when I came to CBA three years ago,” Bojanovksy said, according to the Canarias Basketball Academy website.

“My dream has come true, to know Ill be playing in the ACC under a great coach and at a power house program, I can only thank Rob Orellana and his coaching staff for pushing me everyday to make this dream become a reality.”

Playing in last summer’s U18 European Championship, he averaged 22 points and 13.3 rebounds.

“In his time here Boris has become a part of my family and he is a true credit to himself and to CBA,” Orellana said on the CBA website.

“This is a great move for him as he is a high level and highly skilled center who will be challenged night in night out in the ACC. I really believe that he will flourish under the guidance of head coach Leonard Hamilton. All of us at CBA and Oakley College partnership wish Boris the all the best as he moves on to the next stage of his development.”

With that in mind, the organization is looking at defensive-minded wings who can help contain stars like James and Dwyane Wade.

One such wing, 6-foot-8 1/2, 230-pound Chris Singleton of Florida State worked out Thursday for the Knicks, along with point guards Iman Shumpert of Georgia Tech and Charles Jenkins of Hofstra.

The Knicks pick at No. 17 in the June 23 NBA Draft, and DraftExpress.com projects Singleton going at No. 19 to the Charlotte Bobcats.

“It depends on which team drafts me — I could be a scorer, but if a team needs me to just rebound and hustle and defend, I’ll do that,” Singleton said. “I feel I can bring defense off the bat, and my offense will get better. “

Singleton played one season at FSU with current Knicks guard Toney Douglas and said they caught up before the workout.

“I would love to play with anybody,” he said. “It was a dream come true, just a chance to be in this position. If you get picked by the Knicks, you get picked by the Knicks.”

Last summer Singleton excelled under Villanova coach Jay Wright with the College Select team against a Team USA squad that featured studs like Kevin Durant and Lamar Odom. Knicks coach Mike D’Antoni got an up-close look as an assistant with Team USA.

“We practiced and scrimmaged against the best team in the world and Chris was one of the best defenders we had,” Wright said by text. “He guarded Kevin Durant and Andre Iguodala and also scored with incredible range.”

Singleton averaged 13.1 points and 6.8 rebounds last season with the Seminoles, but suffered a broken leg in February that sidelined him for six games.

“I had surgery Feb. 14,” he said. “It took me about five weeks. I came back for the NCAA Tournament.”

He had 16 points and nine rebounds in his last collegiate game, a loss to eventual Final Four outfit VCU.

“I’m completely recovered,” said Singleton, who has worked out for the Charlotte Bobcats, Philadelphia 76ers, Cleveland Cavaliers and Golden State Warriors and has five workouts remaining.

He conceded that he didn’t have his “best workout” with the Knicks, but said he’d love to play for them.

“If you do good, the city’s behind you,” he said. “I know that and I will just put it all on the court, wherever I go.”

“I went to California,” he said of the trip to LMU. “It was nice. They have a good business management course. The school is not a big population school, it’s a medium school, with 14-20 [students] per class.

“It’s good out there, very close to the Los Angeles Lakers arena. It’s nice. The L.A. weather is nice, like Nigerian weather. I like it out there, too.”

Ajayi also said he set a new Quality Education record with 24 rebounds when the Fighting Pharoahs beat LaPorte (IN) La Lumiere, 55-48, Saturday in the NCSAA Division 1 Championship Saturday in Erie, Pa.

Ajayi has now taken officials to Seton Hall, Tennessee and LMU and has two remaining.

His uncle, Godwin Owinje, said Ajayi may also visit Florida State, Miami or Wake Forest, although Ajayi has said Wake is not on his list.

“I know Florida State is in the picture and Miami’s in the picture and Wake Forest’s in the picture,” Owinje said. “We are just waiting for things to cool down before we decide where he’s going to visit

“Florida State is still playing. Whenever they’re done, or if they make it to the [NCAA] championship game, we’ll wait till then.”

Bolden said Hood will choose from among Florida State, Mississippi State, Louisville, Marquette and Alabama.

“At this point it’s pretty much him doing some soul-searching deciding what he wants to do,” Bolden said.

“Everybody’s right there. A little this or that will be the determining factor. I think everybody is jockeying for position.”

The 6-8, 215-pound Hood figures to be an impact player at the next level.

“I think he’ll be an outstanding player,” Bolden said. “He’s a very special kid with all the different attributes he brings to the game. He’s able to do so much on the court. Most importantly he’s able to make the guys around him so much better. He’ll definitely be an impact player coming in.”

FREE THROWS

Oak Hill guard Ben McLemore is down to Kansas and Missouri and visits Missouri this coming weekend, per Oak Hill coach Steve Smith…Ryan Boatright, who on Friday decommitted from West Virginia, will take his first visit to UConn, per Dave Telep of ESPN….2012 SG Chris Bolden of Norcross (GA) committed to Miami, according to reports.

The 6-foot-9 1/2, 190-pound Miller, the No. 1 power forward in the Class of 2011, now has a top four schools.

“I narrowed it down to four — Baylor, Duke, Louisville and Oklahoma,” Miller said Wednesday by phone.

Asked if he had any favorites, Miller replied: “Baylor and Louisville are slightly in the lead and Duke is right behind and then Oklahoma.”

Miller has already visited Louisville and was slated to trip to Oklahoma this coming weekend but has to take the SAT instead.

“I have to take the SAT this weekend,” he said.

Next up then will be an official to Duke Oct. 15. That same weekend, Duke commit Austin Rivers of Florida and Oak Hill point guard Quinn Cook also visit Duke.

Asked if he could envision himself playing with those two, Miller said, “Most definitely.

“I played with Austin in the in USA games [U18 national team] and I played with Quinn during adidas nations. Both are great players and I love playing with them.”

As for the Baylor visit, Miller had a great time with Bello, his High Point (N.C.) Westchester Country Day teammate.

“The Baylor visit went real well,” Miller said. “That was my best visit thusfar. They’re like a family and I’m really interested in that.”

The 6-3 Bello also enjoyed the trip.

“It was good,” Bello said. “It was a good experience meeting Coach [Scott] Drew and all those guys.

“They said we’d fit in real well by the way they get up and down the floor. They’re recruiting us as two different players but we would both fit in great.”

Next up for Bello is a trip to Florida State Oct. 15.

“I have Florida State,” he said.

Asked about any favorites, Bello said there were none.

“It’s still early,” he said. “I don’t have any favorites.”
