South Kent coach Kelvin Jefferson said Djurisic, originally from Montenegro, also had offers from N.C. State, Arizona State, ECU, Minnesota, Kansas State and Utah. He averaged 18 points and nine rebounds.

“Nemi really enjoyed the coaching staff at Georgia,” Jefferson said by text. “The facilities were top notch and he feels that he has a chance to compete for minutes on a team that has a chance to be very good.

“Nemi is a very skilled four man. He can score and rebound in the paint or he can stretch defenses with his ability to shoot the three.”

NORTH AUGUSTA, S.C. — His name is Tony Parker but he’s not the point guard for the San Antonio Spurs and he’s not married to Eva Longoria.

No, this Tony Parker is a 6-foot-9, 265-pound rising junior center from Lithonia (Ga.) Miller Grove ranked among the top 10 centers in his class.

As a freshman, Parker helped lead his team to a 30-3 record and the Georgia Class 4A state championship. He started 32 games and averaged 7.5 points. and 10.3 rebounds.

Earlier this month he played alongside Michael Gilchrist, Marquis Teague and Tony Wroten on the USA U17 national team that won the gold medal in Hamburg, Germany.

“I got looks from Tennessee, Alabama, Georgia, Georgia Tech, Florida, Miami, Georgetown and West Virginia,” Parker said last week at the Peach Jam. “I’m pretty much open right now.”

“Probably there’s not a school in the country that won’t recruit Tony by ’12. He’ll have a lot of opportunities,” said Georgia Stars coach Norm Parker.

Norm Parker (no relation) points out that Tony just turned 16 and is still a “young man.”

“Tony’s upside is just tremendous,” Norm said. “He’s big, he’s strong. He’s got great hands and good footwork. He’s got to always continue to work on his body and get it in the bets shape possible and he’ll do that as he matures and gets older.”

Norm would like to see Tony get down to 240 or 250 pounds to play in college and suggests that he’s more of a natural four-man.

“Because of his size and he can play in the paint, he can always get his shot up because he can get separation,” Norm said. “His upside is unbelievable.”

After averaging 14.7 points and leading the Hawks to the championship game, the 6-foot-6, 240-pound Behanan was named the Most Valuable Player of the NBA Top 100 Camp in Charlottesville, Va.

“I was shocked,” Behanan, the No. 6 power forward in the Class of 2011, said Sunday night in a phone interview. “I felt good this morning. A lot of people came through that camp and I was the most outstanding one so I was kind of happy.”

Behanan’s phone hasn’t been ringing off the hook the way you might expect, but he did pick up an offer from Indiana Sunday.

“Indiana just called and offered me right off the top,” said Behanan, who attends Bowling Green (Ky.) High. “I’ll probably go to Indiana Thursday. It’s like two hours [away]. I’m not sure yet.”

Behanan, who decommitted from Cincinnati last year, said the rest of his list includes West Virginia, Louisville, Kentucky, Cincinnati, Purdue, Alabama, Texas, Kansas, Purdue and Georgia.

Though he lists Kentucky, John Calipari and his staff haven’t yet reached out.

“No, they haven’t,” he said. “I [haven't] heard from them in a long time so I don’t really know where they stand, so I’m just patiently waiting.”

Would he like to hear from them?

“Oh yeah, I would,” he said.

Repeating comments he made to the Lexington Herald-Leader, Behanan said he was hoping to face Kentucky-bound rising senior wing Michael Gilchrist of Elizabeth (N.J.) St. Patrick.

The No. 1 prospect in the Class of 2011, Gilchrist wasn’t at the NBA Top 100 Camp. He is training with the USA U17 team in San Antonio, along with Andre Drummond, Tony Wroten, Brad Beal, Kyle Anderson and others.

“I know he had stuff to do,” Behanan said of Gilchrist. “I wasn’t disappointed. I would like to face him though.”

As for college, Behanan said he hopes to bring a Ron Artest-type energy wherever he lands.

“I’ll just be a sparkplug,” he said. “Another Ron Artest. Making plays and getting everybody else off.”

“Yeah, probably after this visit,” he wrote Thursday by text.

An athletic 6-foot-7 wing who averaged 21 points and 8 rebounds last season at Los Angeles Westchester High, Polee is down to St. John’s, Georgia and Oregon.

He had initially planned to announce this past Saturday at halftime of the Collision all-star game but held off and opted to visit Oregon after Dana Altman was named head coach.

As a freshman, Polee committed to USC, where his father, Dwayne Polee Sr., is the director of basketball operations. He decommitted last December in the wake of Tim Floyd’s resignation.

No sooner does the former Creighton coach get the Oregon job, than he persuades Los Angeles Westchester star Dwayne Polee to postpone his college announcement until after visiting the Oregon campus Friday.

The 6-foot-7 Polee was to announce between St. John’s and Georgia at halftime of the Collision all-star game Saturday night, but decided to hold off instead.

“St. John’s and UGA,” he wrote by text prior to the latest development.

The news was first reported by the Los Angeles Times.

Altman, 51, went 327-176 in 16 seasons at Creighton and is set to be introduced as the Ducks’ new coach on Sunday or Monday, according to multiple reports.

Altman may still try to get involved with Portland (Ore.) Jefferson stars Terrence Jones and Terrence Ross, who are set to announce April 30.

The 6-8 Jones will visit Kansas beginning Sunday, while the 6-5 Ross hinted on his Facebook that he may commit to Washington, the school he visits Sunday.

“I have a BIG suprise for the skool im taken a visit to… ” he wrote on Facebook.

Dwayne Polee, a 6-foot-7 forward out of Los Angeles (Calif.) Westchester, will announce his college choice at halftime of Saturday’s Collision all-star game at El Camino College.

“St. John’s and UGA,” Polee wrote Thursday in a text, referring to his final two choices of St. John’s and Georgia.

A source close to Lavin said Polee was the “best athlete” he’s ever recruited.

Polee led the Comets to their second straight CIF State Division I title and averaged 21 points, eight rebounds and two blocks per game.

“He’s made tremendous strides in understanding the defense, where to be, blocking out, taking charges, doing a lot of the little things that he never, ever was concerned about doing [before],” Westchester coach Ed Azzam told the Los Angeles Times.

While in California this week meeting with Polee, Lavin also huddled Wednesday with Remi Barry, a 6-7 French-born senior forward from Del Oro High in Loomis, Calif.

Barry is a skilled swingman with impressive athleticism and versatility at both ends, according to one Division 1 head coach.

Also at St. John’s, Derrick Wrobel will join Lavin’s staff in an operations/administration spot in the next few days. Wrobel had been Mike Montgomery’s director of external relations the past two seasons at Cal. The news was first reported by Ibabuzz.com.

DUKE HOSTING STUDS

Duke is hosting 2011 recruits Quincy Miller, Austin Rivers, Amir Williams, & Michael Gbinije at Thursday’s banquet.

The 6-4 Rivers, a junior out of Winter Park (Fla.), decommitted from Florida and is now looking at Florida, Duke and North Carolina.

“Florida is still the front-runner and Duke, it’s those two,” Celtics coach Doc Rivers told me about his son. “He’s just looking around. I think he wants to really look at other schools to get a bearing on what he likes and I like what he’s doing.”

A 6-foot-9, 210-pound senior big man from Manhattan Rice High School, Jack will visit Arizona Wednesday night and return Friday in time for the SNY Invitational beginning Friday at Long Island University in Brooklyn.

“I’m going to get back on Friday morning,” Jack said by phone.

Jack plays on a loaded Rice team that includes Kansas-State bound guard Shane Southwell and star junior Jermaine Sanders, who is being recruited by numerous Big East programs.

Jack only began playing hoops in the summer before ninth grade, yet he has quickly blossomed into one of the most exciting and accomplished big men in the nation.

He recently dropped 24 points and 20 boards on Villanova-bound forward JayVaughn Pinkston and Bishop Loughlin.

Jack said Providence, Miami, Florida, Seton Hall, St. John’s, UConn, Arkansas and Georgia were among the other schools recruiting him.

Asked if certain schools were showing the most love, Jack said: ”I wouldn’t say it’s one school. All of them showed me love. Each school has a different way to recruit players.”

As for his visit schedule, the remaining visits will have to wait until after Rice’s season ends.

“I’m taking this visit and the rest after the season’s over,” said Jack, who will have four officials remaining after the Arizona trip.

Arizona assistant Book Richardson helped bring New Yorkers Lamont “Momo” Jones and Kevin Parrom to the desert, and now he’s targeting fellow New Yorkers Jack and 6-4 guard Doron Lamb of Oak Hill (Va.) Academy. Richardson coached with the New York Gauchos before leaving for college and Jack plays for the Gauchos now.

“I don’t know him that well at all,” Jack said of Richardson. ”I just started speaking to him. A lot of people have told me he’s a great guy.”

He also said he likes coach Sean Miller’s style of play.

“They play the same offense that I like to run. the open floor. Everybody’s running. I like that about Sean Miller,” he said.

Ultimately, Jack said he wants to play both forward spots wherever he lands.

“I’m looking for a school that I can play the four/three and a school that’s looking to develop me and I can play right away, not 2 -3 minutes a game,” Jack said.

Considering he’s only been playing ball for four years, Jack said it’s still surprising to him how highly he’s being recruited.

“Yeah, it feels kind of strange where I was before,” he said. “Everything is just hitting me now.”

“He has not made a decision yet,” said Chattanooga (Tenn.) Tyner Academy coach Gerald Harris.

The 6-foot-10 Bradley is considering UConn, Drake and Georgia, Harris said.

“I think the date was yesterday and he decided to extend it,” Harris said.

Bradley has only been playing ball for four years and averaged 8 points last season.

“A lot of people see his upside more than anything else,” Harris said. “What people see in him is what kind of what player he’s going to be. He’s a coachable kid, a real hard worker. He’s only been play basketball for about four years.”

MORGAN TO VISIT UCONN

Jesse “The Takeover” Morgan will visit UConn for First Night festivities Oct. 16, according to his Godfather, Fred Snead.

Morgan had initially said he would visit Louisville that weekend.

He is tentatively set to visit Seton Hall this coming weekend.

The 6-5, 180-pound Morgan is a Philly native playing at South Kent (Conn.). He said he’s considering Seton Hall, UConn, Rutgers, Louisville and UMass.

Rosario had 13 after one quarter, 28 at the half, 37 after three quarters and scored 17 fourth-quarter points to carry his team back after France had taken an 83-76 lead with 3:20 remaining in the game.

“I knew today was do or die for us,” said Rosario, whose team plays the U.S. on Tuesday. “That was a team we played in France and they beat us by one at the Douai Tournament, and I just knew that this game meant so much to me, my country and my teammates.

“I just told coach that I was going to go out and give it everything I had, and I went out there and I prayed last night, and I prayed before the game and everything went right for me today. I am just so happy.”

Trailing by 11 at the half, the French made their move late in the third quarter, finishing the quarter on a 14-2 run to tie the scores at 63-63.

The last quarter was a classic, with France hitting five three pointers to establish their 7 point lead. But Rosario came back to life to hit three baskets, including a two pointer to tie the score at 89-89 with 40 seconds to play.

Andrew Albicy (28 points, 5 rebounds, 3 assists, 3 steal) was outstanding for France all night, but missed an open three point shot to win the game with three seconds to play. Raymond Cintron grabbed the rebound and rushed down the court, finding Kevin Young under the basket, who was fouled with 0.6 seconds remaining.

Young missed the first but made the second and, fittingly, Rosario stole the inbounds pass to secure an incredible win for his country.

Puerto Rico’s three wins may be enough to qualify them for the quarter finals, but a win in their remaining games against the USA and Egypt will make it a certainty.

With two wins on the board, France must win at least one of their games against Lithuania and Greece to move on to the knockout round.

USA DOWNS GREECE

Georgia forward Howard Thompkins scored 22 points on 10 of 14 shooting to lead the USA over Greece 85-69.

“I decided today that I was going to be very, very aggressive” Thompkins said. “I heard that Greece like to bump and bang, I decided I was going to be the guy to initiate it first.

“Greece, they move the ball well, they play as a team. It seems like they use ball screens a lot, and they know how to penetrate and dish and they know how to create. They’re a good team and it wouldn’t surprise me if we saw them again.”

Gordon Howard had 9 points and 5 rebounds and John Shurna, Tyshawn Taylor, Seth Curry and Ashton Gibbs scored 8 points apiece.

Derrick Favors, the No. 1 big man in the Class of 2009, made his college announcement Wednesday night on ESPNU.

“I made my mind up and my decision is ….,” the 6-foot-9 Favors, an Atlanta native, said before putting on a black and gold Georgia Tech hat.

“I want my friends and family to come see me play, for however long I’ll be in college,” he added. “I thought about it long and hard, I made the right decision.”

Georgia Tech coach Paul Hewitt attended Favors’ game Tuesday night, when he dropped 30 points in a blowout, but Favors did not speak to him.

“I just wanted to mess with his head a little bit, make him think I wasn’t interested in him,” Favors said. “But I think deep down he probably knew I would come.”

Favors picked Georgia Tech over Georgia and N.C. State.

“All the schools were good choices for me but I thought about it long and hard and I think I made the right decision,” Favors said.

He joins an impressive recruiting class that includes point guard Mfon Udofia, power forward Kammeon Holsey, shooting guard Glen Rice Jr. and small forward Brian Oliver, who plays for the Paterson-NJ-based Playaz Basketball Club.

Paul Biancardi of ESPNU says Favors, the No. 2 player in the ESPNU 100, is a tremendous two-way player.

“Favors has the ability to dominate a game and make it look easy,” he said. “He’s a dominating player in the post. He’s aggressive in the low post. He catches the ball deep in the low post and demands double-teams. Surprisingly, he’s an excellent passer out of the low post. He’s added a solid 15-foot jumper to his offensive game but clearly his strength lies in and around the basket. Defensively, he challenges, changes and blocks shots. He cleans up the defensive glass. He reminds me of a young Alonzo Mourning, Amare-Stoudemire type player.”
