Namon Wright to Findlay Prep

Special to ZAGSBLOG

At 2:02 on Monday afternoon, Namon Wright announced via Twitter that he will join Class of 2016 point guard and AAU Teammate Derryck Thornton at Findlay Prep (Henderson, Nev.) for his senior season.

“I’m happy, it’s a blessing really,” Wright told SNY.tv. “Findlay is really going to help me with things outside of basketball, as well as on the court. They always seem to want to make kids better.”

Wright, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound 2014 combo guard out of Los Angeles, currently holds offers from Arizona, UCLA, Oregon, Florida State, Arizona State, Gonzaga, USC and Washington.

Wright is an athletic guard, with a tremendous amount of length on the defensive side. He can slash and create opportunities for his teammates, as well as shots for himself.

Another AAU teammate of Wright’s is the No. 5-ranked player in the class of 2015, Stephen Zimmerman, who can’t say enough about Wright as a teammate.

“He’s a great teammate, and is very unselfish,” Zimmerman said. “He just wants to win as a team. If he’s on the bench, he’s very vocal. It’s as if we have six on the court. He’s that involved.”

Wright knows that going to Findlay will put him under a spotlight, and he’s ready for the challenge.

“I know that going to Findlay and being in the spotlight can expose me for the good or the bad,” he said, “and I’m not going to let it expose me for the bad.”

Bowles' actual quote:

“I view it as open competition with Geno being the starter,” Bowles said. “It’s his to lose and it’s Ryan’s to take, it’s Bryce [Petty’s] to take, it’s Matt [Simms’] to take. No different than any other position. Whoever starts out first team is going to get the first-team reps as play dictates as the preseason goes on and as production goes on in practice that could or couldn’t change for any position we have.”

Wow, how earth-shattering!

God, is the media really going to ask the same question over and over until week 1? Is there a competition at QB and who is the starter.... It's so stupid.

@Brendan @Floyd Toucanet this is why i cant pay much attention to this stuff. there is nothing informative just the same questions over and over and an attempt to get "under the skin" of the administration. who enjoys reading this stuff???

Also of note, I think Sheldon is purposefully missing every practice the media is allowed into. He was there yesterday when it wasn't open to the media.

@__fense I think it was Bent who made a similar observation, but that'd be hilarious to me.

It's an open competition; there's still hope for Matt Simms to rise above the politics!

Get in that ass, quick-fast, like Ramadan

It's that rap phenomenon, Don Dadda

For what its worth, I've noticed dudes in Maryland like dying their hair "amber" color.

@tsjc68 @williamg1

I hope so. Because Rontez Miles used to dye his hair a shade of cinnamon and look what happened to him.

I wish we played the Bengals this year, since tigers love Pepper (Johnson) but hate cinnamon (badgers).

We do call "cookies" biscuits, but actually we call "chocolate chip cookies" "chocolate chip cookies".

Oliver had to bend feasibility to make that script work.

see? what i said last week and was called out for by the mindless "jets suck no matter what" masses. (you know you you are.) it's a new era for the jets, folks. i know there are some who don't want to admit that, but we have both a plan in place to get us there and a leader to lead us to the promised land. it'll take a while, but we'll get there eventually.

Good post, but we do need a leader on the field when the Jets have the ball.  Mostly it's the quarterback.

@williamg1

The blogger said "masses", and I'll vouch for Brendan as being one of the biggest Jets defenders through thick and thin.

@williamg1 I somehow echoed Bowles' comments here while still being a "jets suck no matter what" person.

@williamg1 I only did that so we could laugh at him using his scooter around Florham Park.

@williamg1 I'm drawing the line there, that was his own sick mind at work.
