“We were really intrigued by the practices,” Ron Holmes, Muhammad’s father, told BluegrassHoops.com. “There was no wasted time and they really got up and down the floor. The dribble-drive concepts were broken down, and they were really intriguing.”
“Shabazz will be a springtime decision. We still have to see Duke, Arizona, and Kansas, and see more of UCLA, USC, and UNLV.
The 6-foot-5 Muhammad is the consensus No. 1 recruit in the Class of 2012. He has already visited Texas A&M and has UCLA, UNLV, Texas, Arizona, Kansas and Duke on his list.
He will visit USC, his father’s alma mater, unofficially Oct. 29 for the Stanford football game.
Muhammad told Evan Daniels of Scout.com that he “loved it” on his visit to Lexington.
“The fans there are great,” Muhammad told Scout.com. “Their fan base is really supportive and their guys had a lot of fun and I had a lot of fun watching them. I really enjoyed myself.”
Muhammad joined Willie Cauley, Alex Poythress, DaJuan Coleman and 2012 UK pledge Archie Goodwin on the visit.
Goodwin, John Calipari’s lone commit so far, said he didn’t try to persuade any of the other players.
“I didn’t recruit any during the visit,” he told BluegrassHoops.com. “I don’t feel like I should be involved in that. It is each player’s decision, and I don’t want to make the decision for them. They have to be close to the coach.”
